Three days after their 2-3 defeat against 1. FC Nürnberg, Fortuna Düsseldorf has parted ways with head coach Daniel Thioune. Thioune had been coach of the Flingeraner since February 2022, but in the 2023/24 season he failed dramatically in the relegation play-offs against VfL Bochum to gain promotion to the Bundesliga. Fortuna got off to a poor start this season, picking up just one point from four home games. Now the Thioune era in Düsseldorf is over, with Markus Anfang already confirmed as his successor.
