Krul, Tim
– Luton Town
+ Career ended
Tim Krul is ending his career at the age of 37. The Dutchman took the opportunity to look back on his career via Instagram. “From my move to Newcastle as a 17-year-old boy to representing Holland at international level. I truly lived my childhood dream – every game, every training session and every high and low moment made me who I am today,” wrote the goalkeeper, graciously thanking all those who accompanied him on his journey. Krul had perhaps his greatest moment at the 2014 World Cup, when he was brought on by coach Louis van Gaal specifically for the penalty shootout in the quarterfinal against Costa Rica (4-3 on penalties) and led the Oranje to the semifinals with two saves.
