Kevin Strootman has ended his professional career at the age of 34. “Careers come to an end. Thank you football,” wrote the 46-time Netherlands international on his personal Instagram account. Strootman had been without a club since the end of last season, when his contract with CFC Genoa expired. Strootman has been slowed down repeatedly by serious injuries throughout his career, which have also prevented him from playing in the World Cup or the European Championships. He had his best time at AS Roma from 2013 to 2018.
