Is it a relegation duel that opens the eleventh matchday in the Primera Division? A bit of a yes, when two teams face each other who are barely ahead of the critical zone.
My gaze now falls on the Catalan capital. There, a returning team will be looking to make the most of home advantage. And that’s exactly where my Espanyol Sevilla betting tip comes in, because in my eyes, their own stadium will ensure that we won’t see an away win!
So I’ll start my analysis with Espanyol Barcelona, a club that has climbed back to the top after a brief stint in La Liga B. Having come to stay, their goal for the season is self-explanatory.
The first ten rounds are over and the interim results are very mixed. There have already been six defeats, and four of the last five games alone have ended without a point.
Since they have only played once to nil, one of their problems lies in their defense. Three times 0:1, once 1:2, but twice also 1:4? Espanyol often hold their own, but can just as easily go down to defeat.

2:1 against Rayo Vallecano, 3:2 against Alaves, 2:1 against Mallorca? All three wins at home! Well, they lost 1-0 to Real Sociedad and 2-1 to Villarreal, but that was very unlucky
The 1-0 against Sociedad came late on, and the team squandered a lead in the defeat to Villarreal. As they have only failed to score once at home before the break, this is of course a good bet.
At Oddset, the bet that Espanyol will score in the first half has odds of 2.30. Problem: Javi Puado is injured, and thus the man who has already scored three goals at home!
Every fit man is needed against Sevilla, because the Andalusians are by no means one of their favorite opponents – quite the opposite!
Espanyol have gone ten games without a win and have only managed to pick up three points.
They have lost four of their last five home games, so they have a lot to make up to their own fans. Espanyol also have to live with the fact that the bookmakers tend to trust the visitors.
The average odds on Friday are 3.00 to 2.45, but the difference is not that big. The visitors from Sevilla have not exactly had an ideal start to the season either.
Three wins have been recorded, as have Espanyol. And here, too, I can immediately see that the three victories were not only very close, but were also all won at home.
Sevilla and away games don’t go together at all. They scored at least one point in three of the first four, only losing 2-1 against Alaves. But then came the trip to Barcelona
Admittedly, it was to FCB and not Espanyol, but the fact that they were heading straight back to Catalonia after the 5-1 defeat was unlikely to be a good omen. Although there have never been two consecutive defeats this season, this is also the first time they have played away from home twice in a row.
Sevilla FC have only failed to score once against Espanyol since January 2012. And in 2024/25, there was only one away match in which they failed to score.
Sevilla FC and Espanyol Barcelona will face each other on Friday, two teams who have one thing in common: They can’t play away games! Of course, it’s bad for Sevilla that they have to travel themselves.
The home side from Barcelona know their strength at home. Even if, of course, they are probably well aware that they haven’t won against Sevilla for years.
