The Italian national team is facing upheaval after missing out on the World Cup for the third time in a row. It comes as no surprise that Gennaro Gattuso will have to leave his post as national coach after the debacle in Zenica. Gianluigi Buffon, who has been the team coordinator of the Squadra Azzurra since August 2023, is also on the verge of retirement, according to Italian media reports. The Italian federation wants to completely restructure the national team, but well-known names are also being traded as far as the position of the new head coach is concerned: Antonio Conte (Napoli) and Max Allegri (Milan) are said to be high on the list.
