Very close to Galatasaray and Fenerbahce, even with a game in hand! So far, Besiktas fans have been very happy to look at the table and, of course, hope that their club will be in the title race for as long as possible.

Admittedly, Besiktas still has a long way to go. And yet, I can, must and want to praise the Black Eagles for how well they have mastered this season’s opener.
This is by no means a matter of course, because in 2023/24 they fell well short of their own expectations and no longer even saw Galatasaray and Fenerbahce on the horizon.
Five wins and a draw, the team can be more than satisfied with that. The only small blemish is a 1-1 draw against Trabzonspor. How convincingly were the other games won?
Well, Besiktas was very lucky to score the second, decisive goal in the 2-1 win against Eyüpspor. But the other four wins all had at least a two-goal lead.
From a defensive point of view, I can also praise the team, which has conceded four goals so far. Who has conceded less? Nobody, not even the two arch-rivals from Istanbul!
Their defensive strength is particularly evident away from home, where, in addition to the 1-1 draw against Trabzonspor, they have beaten Kayserispor 3-0 and Samsunspor 2-0.
Everything would be fine for Besiktas if it were not for the 4-0 defeat against Ajax Amsterdam in the Europa League. But: the team showed their true colors immediately after this defeat and won 3-0 against Kayserispor.
Now, all those who support Besiktas are hoping, of course, that a similar thing will happen after the 1-3 defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt and that the eagles will blow off some steam after their European frustrations.
Now the clash against Gaziantep is coming up right after the game against Eintracht Frankfurt. Here Besiktas had played 1:3, the supporters now hope that the Süper Lig is not necessarily connected to Europe.
Abandoned, and that doesn’t depend on a particular competition, Besiktas can usually count on Ciro Immobile – when it’s not a penalty against SGE.

0:1 against Samsunspor, 1:3 against Galatasaray and 2:3 against Sivasspor, the team was particularly shaky defensively. While at least a point was earned in the 0:0 draw against Trabzonspor, the mood was already in the basement again after the 2:3 against Eyüpspor.
