Basketball Olympics, quarter-finals, Tuesday, 06.08.2024, 11:00 am
I not only had a great time in the last group game of the men’s Olympic basketball tournament, but also successfully implemented large parts of the Betano bonus conditions.
After several successful predictions and perhaps the best performance of a DBB selection of all time, I have now prudently placed a Germany Greece tip for Tuesday, which I also fully trust
In a recording during a timeout, one of the two Wagner brothers could be heard saying: “Wemby’s out of it!”
He was referring to the French giant Victor Wembanyama, and this statement was not only accurate, but the 2.25-meter giant from the San Antonio Spurs can’t even be blamed.
France was ultimately outclassed and completely imploded in the second quarter.
At half-time, the sports commentator demonstratively pointed to the home crowd booing his own team in the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in northern France: “C’est incroyable!”
In contrast, everything worked for Germany: Isaak Bonga’s buzzer-beater 3-pointer in the first quarter, Schröder’s deep threes from downtown and Franz Wagner’s monster dunk, in which he “took the entire opposing team to the poster”.
Germany’s shooting percentage was a great 47.5% – but felt like 70% – and was evidence of one of the best team performances by a German national basketball team of all time.
No question: After this game, I’m of the opinion that if anyone can beat the almost illegally good USA team, it’s the reigning world champions!
Germany are well on their way to the final and, by winning their group, have secured the right to be allocated one of the two third-placed teams.
Greece are no pushovers, but from what I’ve seen of the DBB selection so far, the Greeks should still fall behind early on Tuesday morning.
A few days ago I gave you a successful tip for the France v Germany game, so the direction of my Germany v Greece prediction is roughly the same!
In this one, I fully trust that a win bet at Oddset with Germany odds of currently around 1.35 could already be enough to conclude a successful basketball bet
After a 92:80 opening win against Spain, the Greeks lost their two subsequent group games against Canada (83:93) and Australia (71:77) and were thus only able to edge out Sudan by a hair’s breadth for the last available quarter-final place.
The Germans have also won their last two international games against the Greeks, including one in September 2022 at EuroBasket despite Antetokounmpo’s participation.
Although the Bucks’ superstar conjured up 31 points on that occasion, he was still unable to prevent his team’s relatively clear 96:107 defeat
The best player on the court for both teams will probably be Giannis Antetokounmpo, because the Greek is an elemental force under the basket.
The center produced 34, 27 and 20 points in his three Olympic appearances – and his total number of rebounds caught is also monstrous at 23.
Nevertheless, the Bucks’ player could be neutralized or isolated by the Germans’ strong defence. The Greeks do not have the quality to put their center in the best possible light.
In short: France was much better equipped as a collective than GRE, but could not even begin to upset the defense of the DBB selection, which was worthy of an All-Star team
So the direction I’m taking in my Germany-Greece quarter-final betting tip is clear!
A win is simply unavoidable when you look at the ease with which the DBB team played even a team with a much higher quality line-up like France to the wall just a few days ago.
Consequently, I would – also because the Germany-Greece odds force me to – impose a handicap of about 4.5 points on the DBB selection, but I’d be happy to impose a little more!
Conclusion: It will be unavoidable that Giannis Antetokounmpo will rage under the basket and collect his 20 to 30 points, he is simply far too strong for that.
Nevertheless, the German defense can limit the damage as far as possible if it once again defends as masterfully as it did against the French.
Offensively, they are already well-rehearsed and capable of dishing out far more than they have to take. In contrast to Greece’s one-dimensional attacking style, the DBB team can conjure up points on the scoreboard in many different ways.
My GER GRE tip: Germany win with handicap -4.5
