Gladbach – Augsburg Tip Bundesliga, Matchday 16 on Sunday, 11/01/2026 at 15:30 CET
It is not difficult to guess what Gladbach’s Borussia has planned for the new calendar year in the Bundesliga, after all, the traditional club always has a pinch in its home arena.
While the team improved noticeably overall after the change of coach, the record at Borussia-Park is still lagging behind: Only one of the last eleven games has been won in the Lower Rhine region (4 draws, 6 defeats).
Although the yield against Augsburg is also quite modest overall, with three defeats in a row, the somewhat longer-term trend lets it be known that the home advantage does play a role here.
On matchday 16, I therefore decided on a rare home win in the course of my Gladbach Augsburg tip. A forecast that, in view of the odds situation, even the betting providers with PayPal obviously cannot escape.
Despite all the home weakness of the Borussians, old and new bookmakers have not overlooked the fact that the visitor from the Fugger city who is now announcing himself has hardly fewer problems abroad.
At the start of the season, the team had given the then coaching debutant Sandro Wagner a 3-point coup in Freiburg. Since this promising start, however, only a single point has been won in six other away games.
Mönchengladbach thus has a great chance against a feasible opponent to finally do something for the suffering supporters. A rare opportunity, for which I am firmly convinced that no player is too good for an additional path.
Gladbach – Augsburg Prediction & Betting Tips
If I predict a false start to the new year for the guests with my forecast, I also trust Augsburg to at least make one or two offensive comments on Sunday.
For the fact that Gladbach has the second-worst home defence in the Bundesliga with 17 strikes, the tip “Both teams to score” is quite acceptable with a narrow 1.70.
Nevertheless, I expect not only a better ending, but also a better start for the Foals: For the semi-second/final score bet Gladbach/Gladbach, I will be rewarded with odds of around 2.65 in the event of success.
In addition, it is now good form for me to bet on a Tabakovic goal in Borussia appearances – which in this case brings odds of about 1.80.
What you need to consider when betting on Gladbach vs. Augsburg
- FC Augsburg have won all of their last three Bundesliga games against Borussia Mönchengladbach, which is the same number of wins for FCA as in the previous 14 meetings (D5 L6). Against no other current BL club do the Fuggerstädters currently have such a long winning streak.
- Borussia Mönchengladbach are playing their weakest Bundesliga season in nine years with 16 points after 15 games, compared to 16 points in 2016/17.
- Borussia Monchengladbach have won just one of their last 11 Bundesliga home games (D4 L6), beating FC Cologne 3-1 at the beginning of November. In 2025, only FC Heidenheim suffered more BL home defeats (11) than the Foals (9).
- FC Augsburg are playing their weakest Bundesliga season in seven years with 14 points after 15 games, compared to the same number of points in 2018/19. There has been only one win away from home in the last nine BL games (D1 L7), with a 3-1 win at SC Freiburg on Matchday 1 of this season.
Gladbach – Augsburg: AI Tip & Odds Analysis
If I finally trust the Foals to achieve the longed-for liberation at Borussia-Park, our in-house artificial intelligence is sceptical about this – and puts the cart before the horse.
After the last three direct duels all went to the Fugger city, the Double Chance X2 at odds of around 1.90 naturally follows a certain static continuity.
Of course, I can’t blame anyone if they follow this recommendation for a slight doubling of the stake, but I then rate Borussia as the decisive step stronger.
In terms of the hoped-for entertainment, however, I can of course only welcome the fact that the Gladbach Augsburg AI prediction also recommends a bet on goals in both halves – odds of just over 1.60.
As the result tip of the AI reveals, however, these goals in both halves are likely to be just a classic precision landing.
Since the artificial intelligence has worked out a 1:1 final score at odds of about 6.25, there is apparently not too much going on in the two penalty areas (and halves) beyond the aforementioned goals.
The best odds for Gladbach vs. Augsburg
Home weakness aside, bad season there: When it comes to the Gladbach Augsburg betting odds, the bookmakers and I shake hands conspiratorially.
With a favorite odds of about 1.90, the bookies leave no doubt as to who deserves the full three, at least according to the pure paper form.
Between the odds for a draw and an away win, on the other hand, hardly a sheet of blotting paper seems to fit with the bookmakers.
While the “Tipp X” is currently shown with odds of around 3.70, the Gladbach Augsburg odds for an away win go another two tenths beyond this offer!
Gladbach vs Augsburg Match Analysis:
Gladbach finished last season safely in the middle of the table, but a surprising defeat against Augsburg threatens the club with a return to the relegation battle.
Going into this game, the two teams are separated by just two points, so the visitors could overtake the Foals with a win.
Since the two teams are so close to each other in the table, this promises to be a hotly contested game that will be decided by small details. However, the home advantage should lead to Gladbach taking the initiative.
Augsburg have the third-lowest possession percentage in the Bundesliga, but will try to put the hosts under pressure at times. With 14.28 passes per defensive action, Augsburg is in the top half of the league in terms of pressing.
Augsburg’s willingness to press could offer Gladbach free space. Haris Tabakovic, who will lead the hosts’ attack, provides a passing station for direct balls, and his play as a target player should allow some of Eugen Polanski’s faster players to break through again and again. Augsburg must watch out for this danger when losing the ball.
Gladbach form check
Gladbach resume play with a two-point lead over second-to-last Augsburg.
A five-game unbeaten streak, including wins against St. Pauli, Cologne, Heidenheim and Mainz, has boosted morale, but two defeats to Wolfsburg and Borussia Dortmund at the end of 2025 mean the relegation battle is not over.
With 16 points after 15 games, this is Gladbach’s worst Bundesliga season in nine years, and the last time the team had scored the same few points was in the 2016/17 season.
Despite their difficulties, the Foals have a goal yield of 63% with great chances, only far ahead of Bayern Munich and Mainz in the ranking.
Gladbach loaned centre-back Kota Takai from Tottenham Hotspur in the early transfer period. The 21-year-old Takai has not yet played a game for the Premier League club, but has already made four international appearances for Japan.
Takai made his debut for Gladbach in a winter friendly in which second-division Hannover won 3-0 against Borussia. Despite the defeat, Gladbach had several good chances and hit the crossbar, but could not score a goal.
Gladbach have already failed to score in seven Bundesliga games this season and are thus level with FC St. Pauli, only bottom-of-the-table Mainz have stormed more often (eight times) without a goal.
Eugene Polanski’s side have a solid home record with 1.40 points per game, a win rate of 50% and 1.60 goals per home game and 1.40 goals conceded.
Augsburg Form Check
Before the winter break of the Bundesliga, Augsburg secured an important point in the fight against relegation with a draw against Werder Bremen. Nevertheless, Augsburg is now two points ahead of the relegation spot, which is currently occupied by St. Pauli.
Augsburg are currently going through their worst Bundesliga season in seven years with 14 points from 15 games, the same number of points as at this point in the 2018/19 season.
Of the last nine away games in the Bundesliga, Augsburg have won only one, drawn once and lost seven times.
Since Manuel Baum took over as coach, however, the team’s form has improved: In three Bundesliga games, they have conceded only one goal and are now at the top of the league together with Dortmund in this period.
Under Baum, Augsburg have kept two clean sheets, twice as many as in the first 12 matchdays, and have only allowed six shots on goal – only Bayern Munich have had fewer shots on goal in the same period.
Augsburg have made two transfers: Michael Gregoritsch returns on loan from Bröndby after scoring 31 goals in 129 appearances for Augsburg, while Yannik Keitel joins from VfB Stuttgart until the end of the season.
