1st FC Heidenheim – FSV Mainz 05 betting tip
An interesting match between Heidenheim and Mainz awaits us at the end of matchday 32. While the promoted team is still dreaming of Europe and could take the next step with a three-pointer, Mainz urgently need points in the basement of the table.
FSV are still hoping to move out of the relegation places. Last week, they conceded a late equalizer against Cologne. Will it be enough for more on Sunday?
For my Heidenheim Mainz betting tip, I have a very specific odds in mind from Oddset, the goal of both teams. I’ll tell you why I think this is the perfect bet in the next few lines:
Mainz have long since accepted the relegation battle and, although they gave away important points with Cologne’s late equalizer, at least they didn’t lose any points on the direct relegation places. Before the start of the 32nd matchday, they have five points on the team from the cathedral city.
From Mainz’s point of view, however, the current form speaks for even more. Can they make the leap to the safety zone? Gladbach, Union Berlin and Bochum could still be dragged into this, but have not been able to achieve the results that FSV have managed
The betting providers’ forecast
More specifically, Mainz are unbeaten in six games and have left the pitch victorious on three occasions. The second change of coach this season has long since borne fruit. Under Bo Henriksen, Mainz have taken 1.60 points per match.
Of all coaches with at least ten matches on the sidelines this millennium, he is the second most successful coach after Jörn Andersen. The chances of salvation are definitely not bad.
The positive trend has also been noted by the best betting providers, with Mainz even considered slight favorites at 2.30 odds in the Voith Arena. Heidenheim have been given 2.90, while a draw (3.60) is considered the least likely outcome
Analysis: Heidenheim vs. Mainz
A draw would actually not help either team. Heidenheim would lose touch in the battle for the European Cup places and Mainz would remain in 16th place.
As I expect both sides to take risks in the second half at the latest, the “Double Chance 12” at 1.28 could be considered as a combination bet.
Alternatively, there are odds in the 1.20 range for at least one goal in the second half, which I like even better, even if the value is low due to the odds
Overgoal odds for the individual halves are offered by Sunmaker, a betting provider that has its very own welcome gift for new customers.
Instead of clearing a bonus amount step by step, you will receive two free bets and two 100 percent odds boosts for your first four betting slips. You can make use of these within seven days of registering.
I am also impressed by the design of the website, which is kept simple in blue, which keeps the website clear despite a good selection of odds
Odds analysis
Due to the pressure situation on both sides, over 1.5 goals in the second 45 minutes are also conceivable. With this bet, the stake is almost doubled. After all, the teams are then in the must-win position, more risk, more offensive danger, more counter-attacking space for the opponent.
In these must-win matches, in which I have already experienced the craziest second halves, I also like to bet that there will be more goals in the second half than in the first half. There are 1.98 odds for this on Sunday.
The 1.20 for the Oddset bet that no team will win both halves is also another great option for a combined ticket on Sunday. I expect a close exchange of blows in which neither team is likely to dominate both halves.
As you can see, this match offers a wide range of tempting odds and I haven’t even mentioned the goal scored by both teams after the introduction. Both teams can, want and have to win for their goal, but they also have to score, the 1.55 is my favorite in the medium-high odds range
Good experience with the goal of both teams and Heidenheim
I’ve already mentioned Mainz’s strong record of six unbeaten matches with wins against Bochum (2-0), Darmstadt (4-0) and Hoffenheim (4-1). And what about Heidenheim?
In their last six games, 1. FCH have only lost once, in their last home game against an in-form RB Leipzig. The team from Baden-Württemberg secured the result of the season one game earlier at home against Bayern (3:2).
Last week, Heidenheim won 1:0 against Darmstadt in a clash of newly promoted teams, dealing the Hessians a deathblow in the second division. One of the few Heidenheim matches in which only one team was able to score.
In general, I had a pretty good nose with the “both teams score” bet regarding Heidenheim this season. I had already written a tip for the second leg against Frankfurt (1:2) and for the 1:1 against Bochum, in both cases I pounced on these odds. Now for the third strike?
Scarce Heidenheim win in the first leg
In 13 of the previous 16 games, every team has scored at least one goal. Mainz have also scored three times in a row in the last two games. The first leg was one of the few matches in which the odds would have been the wrong choice.
Heidenheim won it 1:0, with Marvin Pieringer giving 1. FCH an early lead. Despite an expected goals value of 1.58 and 19 goals scored, the “carnival club” failed to score an equalizer.
At the same time, it was also the premiere duel, which is no great surprise given Heidenheim’s history. Cult coach Schmidt finally took over the team when 1. FCH was still playing in Germany’s fifth-highest division
Heidenheim were already feared in their own stadium in the last few seasons of the second division and their home record in the top flight is also impressive for a promoted team. Six wins and four draws after 15 matches, meaning that only one in three visitors won at the Voith Arena.
I was able to get my own impression of the lively home games in the small village with the stadium in the forest in September, when 1. FCH celebrated a 4:2 victory against Werder Bremen.
Mainz supporters haven’t actually been able to shout “away win” once this season – zero wins after 15 games! Nevertheless, the Nullfünfer are not the weakest away team in the league, with Bochum bagging one less point.
Mainz have at least fought for a draw eight times and thus scored more often than they lost. Nevertheless, I would say that there are significantly better odds for Sunday evening than the 2.30 for the away win
My Heidenheim Mainz tip:
Schmidt has announced a fight for the European Cup places. Mainz will also be aiming for three points against the newly-promoted side in order to improve their situation in the basement. It is also the penultimate opportunity to secure their first away win of the season before the final game against Wolfsburg.
It’s not just the goal difference of 44:52 that reflects Heidenheim’s eventful matches this season, with both teams scoring in 13 of the last 16 games. I have already been right twice with these odds in matches involving the promoted team.
And in this must-win match for both sides, I think this bet is the perfect Mainz Heidenheim tip on Sunday. And the odds are still surprisingly high at Oddset. With regard to the 1X2 market, I would opt for the “Double chance 1X” due to various Mainz absences.
My Heidenheim Mainz prediction: Both teams will score!
