Bayer 04 Leverkusen has still not decided who will succeed Erik ten Hag, who was dismissed earlier this week. Now a new name has been thrown into the ring: Kasper Hjulmand. The 53-year-old stepped down from his position as Danish national coach at the end of 2024 and has been without a club since then, but is assisting the Danish Football Association as a freelancer in planning the new campus. During his four years with “Danish Dynamite,” he sensationally reached the semifinals of the 2021 European Championship, but his only Bundesliga engagement to date ended in 2014/15 at 1. FSV Mainz 05 after just 24 league games.
