It’s one of those games that can confidently be described as a crisis duel! In our Bundesliga tips, my Hoffenheim Bochum tip is about the big question of which of the two teams can finally climb to the top.
In other words, who is currently feeling the most uncertainty.
Both teams share a major problem: virtually nothing is working at the back and they are conceding goal after goal. So it’s no wonder that I’m thinking in the offensive direction.
And since the Vf seem to be even more insecure than the Kausherren from Kraichgau, I add the double chance 1X to the “Over 2.5 goals”
The TSG at least manage to provide joyful moments offensively, while Bochum really lack everything that saved them from relegation last season.
The Hoffenheim Bochum odds seem to have been placed by someone who thinks like me. On average, you will find values of 1.70 to 4.20, which clearly show the sporting situation of the visitors.
There are numerous reasons to believe that the first win on Saturday will not happen. I’ll tell you what they are in my analysis below.

Although Hoffenheim have only won once this season, our oddsmakers are of the opinion, without tax, that a three-pointer against Bochum is very likely. In any case, the odds for a win don’t climb any higher than 1.70.
Meanwhile, the mood among the visitors is at rock bottom. A single point has been scored so far, so it’s no wonder that odds of 4.20 are available even for a club in crisis like Hoffenheim.
Of course, neither team could really live with a draw, as it would only lead to further stagnation. However, should the points be shared anyway, the odds amount to 4.30.

With low risk, we end up with over 2.5 goals. Since I already use this aspect in my main betting tip, I fully agree that this tip is reasonable, if only because of the very weak defensive lines.
If we go further into medium risk, TSG will win. That could also be good. On the one hand, because Bochum have only picked up one point. On the other hand, because 1899 have never lost a home game against a team at the bottom of the table.
And then there’s the high-risk bet that says: Hoffenheim win 3:2! This is exactly the result with which the team from Baden won against Kiel, and since they always score, I think this result bet is a good one.
Analysis: Hoffenheim vs Bochum
TSG 1899 Hoffenheim actually have international ambitions and have no intention of fighting relegation – but that is currently the bitter reality in Kraichgau.
They have won just once, and that was on the very first matchday in a 3:2 win against Holstein Kiel. This was followed by four defeats in a row: 1:3 against Frankfurt, 1:4 against Leverkusen, 1:2 against Union Berlin and 3:4 against Bremen, with nothing working defensively in particular.
The defeat against Bremen was particularly painful, as Hoffenheim managed to completely squander a 3:0 lead. Just when it looked as though the crisis was finally coming to an end, another pinch of bad luck was added to the mix.
The team was leading 1-0 against Stuttgart, the runners-up, before the Swabians were awarded a penalty deep into stoppage time. A 1-1 draw ended the losing streak, but not the bad mood.

Spectacular direct comparisons (most recently 2:3, 3:1, 2:5, 3:2 and 1:2 from TSG’s point of view), incredibly many goals conceded on both sides?
Thanks to these indications, this match could well be equipped with the combination bet “BTS and over 2.5 goals”! The corresponding odds are 1.65.
At the same time, I think it could well be that the first half already shows how weak both clubs are in defense. If there are more than 1.5 goals before the break, you can look forward to odds of 2.05.
As I’m even less convinced by VfL Bochum than Hoffenheim, I’m putting a bet on the hosts to score in both halves. Not a bad option, as the odds are a good 2.05.
Hoffenheim vs. Bochum: The defensive line in focus
It was the first time that the defense had conceded fewer than two goals – a very, very carefully trodden path to improvement. The defense was already the big problem in 2023/24, with just two clean sheets after 34 rounds.
Admittedly, Baden always score, but the big holes in the back line cannot be compensated for by their own goals. Andrej Kramaric and Marius Bülter have scored seven times between them, so the duo will also bear great responsibility on Saturday.
Stanley Nsoki will definitely not be able to take part at the weekend as he is missing through suspension. What’s more, VfL Bochum are not exactly one of their favorite opponents.
When will VfL Bochum recover?
Four wins and six defeats? Not exactly a top haul! At least the last two home games against Bochum were won, with 3:1 and 3:2 results that read anything but boring.
VfL Bochum will of course be hoping to build on their last two head-to-head matches at home, which they won by a total of eight goals. Eight goals in two games? That doesn’t really fit in with the current situation.
A measly six goals are currently on the score sheet, but 14 have already been conceded. Points? Just one! Only the 2-2 draw against Kiel yielded a point, with VfL only conceding an equalizer in the 89th minute against the promoted side
It’s not even as if Bochum are being outclassed by their opponents. 0:1 against RB Leipzig, 0:2 against Gladbach, 1:2 against Freiburg, 2:4 against Dortmund and 1:3 against Wolfsburg – they’ve almost always kept up.
A 2:0 lead against BVB did not hold up, and VfL were also initially 1:0 ahead against Freiburg. Defensively, the performances are ruining many courageous performances, since matchday 2 there have always been at least two goals conceded.
No wonder that the bet on over 1.5 goals on the TSG side only rises to odds of 1.50 at Oddset. Away games, as we have known for years, are not Bochum’s specialty anyway.
Eight of their last nine matches away from home have ended without a point, with only Union Berlin scoring once during this period. Bochum have not won in eight league games anyway, regardless of the venue.

Neither TSG 1899 Hoffenheim nor VfL Bochum are doing well this season – that’s easy to see. But who is deeper in crisis? In my eyes, it’s the visitors, who have only picked up one point.
At least Baden have the will to win games by scoring goals themselves, if only they didn’t have this terrible defensive weakness. Something that both teams share, that was already the case in 2023/24.
On the one hand, I’ve decided to rule out an away win for precisely these reasons. On the other hand, the defensive lines are symbolic for one or the other goal, which is why I’m betting:
