HSV training starts: July 2
While Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are busy in the USA this summer at the 2025 Club World Cup, the other Bundesliga clubs are enjoying something of a summer break – including Hamburger SV.
The newly promoted team will begin its summer preparations at the start of July. The first two dates on the HSV summer schedule for 2025 are June 30 and July 1. Performance tests are scheduled for both days.
The official start of HSV training for the 2025 season will then be Wednesday, July 2.

No HSV friendly matches have been confirmed yet. There is also no date for a training camp in the HSV summer schedule for 2025.
As Hamburger SV only found out on the penultimate matchday whether they would be playing in the Bundesliga or continuing in the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2025/26 season, no final decisions could be made for the upcoming summer preparations.
Last year’s schedule could provide some guidance for this year’s HSV summer schedule. Last summer, the Hanseatic club completed a 9-day training camp in Austria, where they also played three test matches.
There were a total of six test matches in last year’s summer preparations. Will there be as many HSV test matches in preparation for the Bundesliga?

HSV Dates: When are the first competitive matches?
After a month and a half of preparation, HSV’s 2025 summer schedule ends with the first competitive matches.
The first round of the DFB Cup will take place on the weekend of August 15-18, 2025. The draw will take place on June 15. Then we will know the date and opponent.
One week later (August 22-24), the Bundesliga will kick off. There is also no HSV date for the first match day yet.
