Maybe he just needs a break. Perhaps he is saving himself for the next big game for Bayern.
On the other hand, the return of Nicolò Barella should be a real boost for the home side. The driving force was missing against Parma through a suspension – and that was noticeable in the midfield.
The balance between defense and offense was not right, and that’s exactly where Barella comes in. His tireless commitment, his game intelligence, his speed – he will be particularly motivated against his former club.
Cagliari, on the other hand, come to Milan with a 0-0 draw against Empoli under their belts. Not a brilliant performance, but at least another small step towards avoiding relegation.
The Sardinians are not what you would call a spectacular team. Away from home, they like to withdraw, close down spaces and hope for the counterattack – with moderate success.
Only Genoa and Roma have seen more away games with less than 2.5 goals than Cagliari (9) this season. It doesn’t exactly smell like a goal festival against Inter either.
And the home team? They tend to win in administrative mode at the moment. The last real win was on matchday 22, when they beat Lecce 4-0.
Since then: a lot of control, not much sparkle. But: they haven’t lost a single competitive game since February 22. This consistency is impressive – even if it is often closer than many think.
With regard to the Inter Milan Cagliari odds, I personally like the combo bet “Inter to win & Under 3.5 goals” at odds of around 1.98 very well. Inter will not risk everything, but will get the three points patiently and cleverly.

And despite all the criticism: this team knows exactly when it has to deliver. Cagliari will put up a fight, but even with their foot off the gas, Inter are still too good for the Sardinians.
My prediction: I expect a confident 2-0 or 2-1 win, but it won’t be a showcase for the Milanese team.
Cagliari will find it difficult to create any significant chances at all, and Inter will cleverly play out the game.
A spectacle? Probably not. Three points for Internazionale? Highly likely, yes!
