Direct relegation seems to be a done deal. Leicester City can’t get anything right anymore, one defeat follows hot on the heels of the next. Since the upcoming opponent is involved in the fight for a Champions League spot, another game without points is looming.
Consequently, it should come as no surprise that I can only make one prediction for my Leicester Newcastle tip: that the Foxes will come away empty-handed again. With that in mind, I’ll tell you now why I would bet on an away win by a maximum of four goals.
15 points behind with eight games remaining? Yes, in theory that could still be possible – but in practice, no one at Leicester City really expects that they will be allowed to play in the Premier League next season.
The Foxes had a very difficult time from the start, but in December a deep crisis began, from which they have not been able to escape to this day. 14 defeats from 15 matches, only the 2-1 win against Tottenham minimally improves this series.
Particularly bitter: Twelve of these defeats didn’t even have a goal of their own, six times Leicester lost 0-2. So I can suggest two interesting bets to you at this point.
One is for the opponent to win on Monday, with a clean sheet. In the Bet365 app, the corresponding odds are 2.60. But you can also go directly to the result bet, consider the 0-2 and get 7.50.
Since the beginning of December, Leicester have scored just a single goal in the first half. Word has got around, because if you still want to risk a “Leicester score in the first half”, Bwin will give you a high 2.80 for it.
So, bottom line: Leicester’s results are only a matter of how clear the defeats are. 0:3, 0:2, 0:2, 0:2, 0:2, 0:4, 0:3 – anyone who looks at the recent home games can only shake their heads.
Sure, that’s why you can also consider the handicap bet. For the 0-1 handicap, you get odds of 2.40 at Betano. How did the first-leg duel between the two teams end? With a nice 0-4 win for the Foxes.
Four defeats and a draw, with only one goal scored, the recent history fits perfectly with the current stats in Leicester. So I really haven’t found anything that could speak in favor of winning a point on Monday.
Do our bookmakers’ odds reflect this? A home win would see you given an average of 6.70, while the visitors are priced at just under 1.50.
Newcastle United are in the middle of an exciting battle for a place in the Champions League. They may only be seventh at the moment, but on the one hand, the gap to the top is small and, on the other, there is still a game in hand.
After the great series that brought them six wins in a row over the turn of the year, the Magpies initially fell into a minor hole. They seem to be slowly recovering from that, because for the first time since January, they have now scored two goals in a row again.
1:0 against West Ham and 2:1 against Brentford, nobody was bothered by the narrowness of the victories. The first thing that stands out about Newcastle is that they haven’t drawn a game since the beginning of December.
Whether it’s 0-4, 4-3, 1-0 or 1-4, you always have to be prepared for anything with this team. Since December 7, they have only lost to ManCity and Liverpool away from home, which can happen to even the best teams.
Four times they have played away to zero, but five times there have been at least two goals against. For the first time since the season began, top striker Alexander Isak has not scored in three consecutive away games.
Since this has never happened to him four times in a row, you can of course place your bet here and get odds of 1.62 at Betano. Isak scored and set up another goal in the 4-0 win against Leicester in the first half of the season.
The hopes of avoiding relegation are fading a little more with each passing week. Nothing suggests that Leicester City will be able to turn things around, and after all the clear defeats, the gap is huge.
In contrast, international ambitions are the focus for Newcastle. Although the Magpies lack consistency, their results are of course much better than those of the Foxes.
