Bundesliga 22nd matchday, Saturday, 2/15/2025 at 6:30 PM
Let’s not kid ourselves – this is where the title race will be decided. If Leverkusen can’t even keep at least one point at home, it’s pretty certain that your bets on a successful title defense won’t be either. Then the Werkself will face the familiar “Vizekusen” fate again.
The defending champion is thus under enormous pressure in my Leverkusen Bayern betting tip, while the record champions can arrive with a broad chest. A real top game awaits us, which will shape the rest of the season.
In my top match prediction, I give you promising betting tips for this encounter, which you can put to the test yourself at any time on the extensively tested Bet365 app.
Those written off live longer, and B04 has often been written off in games against Bayern. And yet: Leverkusen always finds a way to get out of trouble.
The Werkself is unbeaten for the first time in five consecutive games against the record champions (3 wins, 2 draws), most recently with a narrow 1-0 win in the DFB Cup round of 16. And even then, the betting providers wrote off the victorious Bayer from the outset!
Can Alonso’s team extend this impressive record? My Leverkusen Bayern prediction provides the answer to this and other exciting questions, in what is arguably the most important league game of the entire Bundesliga second half!

The Leverkusen – Bayern bookmakers’ prediction
No need for much guesswork: the bookmakers have decided in favor of FC Bayern. With 2.30 on the away win, the record champions are favored, even if it won’t be a walk in the park.
Leverkusen is to be taken seriously with a 3.20 for the home win, while the draw is also not considered unlikely at an average of 3.70.
An absolute top game, then, in the run-up to which the Leverkusen Bayern odds at least suggest that Munich could soon return to the Bundesliga throne.
AI prediction Leverkusen vs Bayern: That’s what ChatGPT tips
The computer-generated Leverkusen Bayern AI prediction from ChatGPT for what is arguably the most important game of the entire Bundesliga second half of the season provides some betting suggestions that didn’t really blow my mind, though!
If you’re looking for big wins, ChatGPT suggests “FCB win with HC -2.” Want to know my opinion on that? No, no, and no again – the AI seems to have blown a few fuses here.
At medium risk, the AI bets on “Half-time/final score: Bayern/Bayern”. This tip is a little more convincing to me, but I would not be at all surprised if it were still 0-0 at half-time.
After all, Bayern themselves needed more than a whole half to score for the first time against Bremen last week!
However, “over 2.5 goals in the game” is recommended as a safe bet. I don’t like that either, because in the last two direct duels, this mark was not reached, even though they were both in Munich’s Allianz Arena.
In addition, Alonso usually has his team defend very deeply against Bayern – certainly not a safe bet.

Analysis: Leverkusen vs Bayern
The fact that Victor Boniface is staying in Leverkusen pleases Alonso and could prove to be a stroke of luck.
Because you can always use a beefy striker against Munich’s solid defense. Even if the Nigerian was certainly not one of his team’s best players in the goalless draw against Wolfsburg last week.
One advantage: the “Werkself” already qualified for the Champions League knockout stage, which gave them a week off, which could now pay off.
Bayern needed around 60 minutes to score the first goal of the game against Bremen last week. That’s why it’s by no means set in stone for me that Munich will take an early lead on Saturday.
On top of that, the record champions had to face tough Scottish football on the island a few days ago.
Celtic Glasgow may have been defeated 2-1 in the Champions League play-off first leg, but they still gave Bayern a very tough game for long spells of the game!
Fact is: I can well understand the favoritism of the guests in this top game. After all, numbers don’t lie.
Because 54 points after 21 match days mean FC Bayern’s best Bundesliga season in nine years. Only in 2015/16 (56 points) and 2013/14 (59 points) were they doing even better at this point.
The Munich team has also won all of its last seven league games – its longest winning streak in the Bundesliga since February to September 2020 (14 games).
Odds analysis
“Leverkusen under 1.5 goals” at odds of 1.60 seems to be a realistic assessment. Bayern’s defense is extremely stable, and the Werkself would probably be well served with just a single goal.
Do you remember the DFB Cup game? Even with a man advantage, Leverkusen only managed to score late against Munich.
A possible 0-0 at half-time would therefore be by no means surprising – and with odds of 3.35, it’s a thoroughly lucrative halftime bet with plenty of potential!
In this particular constellation, there seems to be a real curse on the front-runner. Does the front-runner feel the pressure more than the immediate pursuer?
Finally, league leaders Bayern travel to second-placed Bayer Leverkusen – and in the last seven Bundesliga duels between first and second, the leading team has only managed to win once (5 draws, 1 defeat).
That one win? Leverkusen’s 3-0 home win over Bayern last season. This season, Munich’s direct duels with the runner-up also ended in a draw: 1-1 against Leverkusen and 3-3 in Frankfurt. Just a coincidence?
The defenses could dictate the course of the game!
Bookmakers are expecting a small goal fest, but I remain skeptical in this regard. After all, Bayern’s defense in particular is made of granite.
After all, the record champions did not allow a single shot on their own goal in the win against Bremen – for the fourth time this Bundesliga season.
No team in Europe’s top five leagues has a better record. On average, Bayern’s titanic defense even has to deal with just 1.9 shots on target per game.
And Leverkusen? The Werkself only had a single shot on target in the 0-0 draw in Wolfsburg last time out – the first time in the Bundesliga since April 2023.
I still think that Leverkusen can win this game in the same way as the cup game against Bayern a few months ago, from an organized defense.
After all, the hosts have a wily old hand sitting on the bench who knows how to present the record champions with problems. That’s because Xabi Alonso is the first Bundesliga coach to remain unbeaten against FCB in his first five competitive games (3 wins, 2 draws).
What’s more, the Spaniard has the best average of all non-Bayern coaches in Bundesliga history at 2.23 points per game – only FCB coach Vincent Kompany is currently higher (2.57).
Above all, however, Leverkusen will be keen to put a stop to the game of one man in particular: Harry Kane.
Kane has scored 12 goals from open play, which, together with Leverkusen’s Patrik Schick, is the best in the league.
The Englishman is also the first player in 25 years to convert nine penalties in a Bundesliga season (Jörg Butt in 1999/2000). Only Paul Breitner has scored more (10) (1980/81).
My Leverkusen Bayern Tip:
The bookmakers see Bayern in the lead – and their defense is currently in impressive form. But I still think Leverkusen can pull off another upset.
After all, the Werkself had a whole week to prepare, while Munich were in action during the week.
In addition, home advantage speaks in favor of Leverkusen, as well as the fact that they have repeatedly been able to annoy the record champions in recent years from an outsider role.
My Leverkusen Bayern betting tip: Under 2.5 goals.
