1. FC Kaiserslautern has announced the departure of head coach Markus Anfang and his replacement: Torsten Lieberknecht is taking over at the Red Devils, with the 51-year-old set to lead his first training session on Wednesday. Lieberknecht was already considered the preferred candidate at Betzenberg in the past, but the two camps had not been able to come to an agreement until now. The Palatinate native played for FCK in his youth and also made his breakthrough as a Bundesliga professional at Betzenberg. However, they parted ways in 1994. He began his coaching career in 2007 at Eintracht Braunschweig, initially in the youth department, before becoming head coach from 2010 to 2018. He then moved on to MSV Duisburg and Darmstadt 98.
