If you need a good betting tip this weekend, then my Lyon PSG tip might be just the right starting point for you! Because Luis Enrique’s team showed just why it is the measure of all things in France with an incredible 7-0 win in the European Cup during the week.
With this concentrated offensive power, the capital city team is now traveling to Lyon, where they want to underpin their nationwide dominance. Although the hosts have recently achieved good results, against a PSG in this form, it will be a real challenge…
My, my, my, Paris were really ruthless against Brest. After the 3-0 first-leg win, coach Luis Enrique warned his boys not to take the UCL play-off second leg too lightly.
The team’s response to that warning? A resounding 7-0 victory – the highest the capital city side have ever celebrated in a European competition. This team has improved even further with the arrival of Kvaratskhelia, that much is now crystal clear.
They have not lost a competitive game in three months, and the current trend suggests that their first defeat in the domestic league competition since May 2024 is likely to be even further off.
Because yes, the reigning champions continue to march towards the Ligue 1 title with 17 wins and 5 draws. But it’s still too early to take it easy.
A 10-point lead over Marseille can quickly melt away, which is why I don’t expect Luis Enrique to take it easy in a game as prestigious as the one against Lyon.
Lyon, on the other hand, have just beaten Reims (4-0) and Montpellier (4-1), showing all their offensive quality. But I’m still not sure if the hosts are up to this test. Paris have a rock-solid defense that concedes fewer than one goal per game on average.
Interestingly, Lyon have not scored more than one goal per game in any of their last eight meetings with the capital city club – not even in their only victory in that period, a 1-0 away win in April 2023.
Since that defeat, however, the star-studded ensemble from the capital has improved its play even further, which is why I think the 3-1 win from the first leg is more indicative of how the game will go.
Especially in offense, Paris is currently extremely dangerous. The combination of Barcola, Dembélé and newcomer Kvaratskhelia creates immense momentum in attack, which is likely to cause major problems for Lyon’s defense.
On the other hand, Olympique has improved, but against the absolute top teams, it still lacks the final punch. The home game against Paris is undoubtedly a test, but whether it can stand up to this superiority remains questionable.
Statistically, there is a lot to be said for a clear victory for the guests. As already mentioned, the defending champions have not been beaten in 23 league games and have only conceded 2 fewer points away from home than at home.
In addition, PSG has scored at least one hat-trick in three of its last four competitive games – a highly dangerous offensive machine that is difficult to stop.
Even though Lyon have stabilized in recent weeks, it will be difficult to hold their own against the superior PSG. Another away win for Paris seems to be the logical consequence. Looking at the betting providers, their offers, and the Lyon-PSG odds, it didn’t take long for me to identify some promising betting offers.
The more subtle one concerns the selection “Lyon under 1.5 goals” at odds of around 1.57, since – as already explained – the “Gones” have not scored more than one goal at most against the capital city club for quite some time.
In terms of a simpler Lyon PSG betting tip, which also has good chances of success, I would go for the option “1st goal: PSG” at a nice odds of 1.60 on average.
After all, Paris Saint-Germain has always scored the first goal of the game in the last 8 games. That’s what I call a highly focused opening phase.
Conclusion: PSG are still on a goal-scoring spree after their 7-0 Champions League win, but the real strength of this team remains their defense. The Parisians hardly concede any goals and undoubtedly have one of the best defenses in Europe.
That’s why I think the guests in Lyon could even win 0-0. The hosts have recently been convincing in offense, but it will be really difficult against this stable defense.
My Lyon PSG betting tip: The “Gones” score less than 1.5 goals.
