Now the Champions League is in danger! Manchester City simply can’t get to grips with this complicated season, so it certainly doesn’t suit the Sky Blues that their upcoming opponents arrive on Saturday with a powerful tailwind.
ManCity are actually facing a favorite opponent, but in this 2024/25 season, nothing is as it once was.
That’s why I’ll tell you in my current Manchester City Brighton tip why it could well be close here and why I therefore recommend a BTS
First of all, I’ll reveal that I’ve looked for my odds at Bet365 this time, because here you can secure up to 100 euros in the form of betting credits on top! The BTS creates a bet of a good 1.50 – if that’s too low for you, simply combine the Over 2.5 goals and you’re at 1.74.
Manchester City are not to be envied this season. The team has just dropped to fifth place, with Brighton lurking right behind with just one point less. Well, the gap to fourth place is minimal, but there are so many rivals that they could soon be down to tenth.
After a hard-fought 1-0 win against Tottenham, the momentum was lost again in the 1-0 defeat to Nottingham. The brief period of rebellion around the turn of the year has long since fizzled out.
There have not yet been two games in a row without a win in 2025, but as Brighton are one of the top teams, it could be that time again. In the first half of the season, the Seagulls were instrumental in City plunging into this deep crisis.
They lost 2-1, with a total of four defeats in a row last autumn. At least it is still a small advantage when the Sky Blues are allowed to play in their stadium.
After three wins in a row (4-1 against West Ham, 3-1 against Chelsea and 4-0 against Newcastle), the streak was snapped recently, but a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool could have befallen Guardiola’s team even in a strong phase.
There were only two home games in 2024/25 that had less than two goals in the first 45 minutes, which is certainly interesting for you. Is the bet “Over 1.5 goals first half” also worthwhile for Saturday?
Odds of 2.20 appear at Bet365, so there could be a profit lurking for you here. Eleven of the 17 goals conceded by the still-champions have come in the first half.
You can therefore bet that Brighton will score before the break this weekend – the odds of 2.25 at Betano are anything but bad. Three home goals since the end of October? I wouldn’t bet on Erling Haaland to score this time!
Instead, and this will please City fans, I’ll take a look at the history. Yes, they lost 2-1 in the first half of the season, but the last time they lost at home to Brighton was… never!
Home games against the Seagulls have always been won by the hosts since their return to the top flight. That explains why our bookmakers are offering average odds of 1.65 to 4.60 for Saturday.
Brighton are in really good form at the moment, having won all of their last four matches and are stalking the CL places. 3:0 against Chelsea, 4:0 against Southampton, 2:1 against Bournemouth and 2:1 against Fulham, which is particularly impressive offensively.
A strong reaction to the 0:7 debacle against Nottingham, Brighton have always scored before the half-time whistle for four matches. The fact that they have only lost one of their last seven away games also reads quite well.
True to the motto “Better to lose 7-0 once than 1-0 seven times”, the fans will surely have already forgiven their team for the defeat against Nottingham. Incidentally, there has not been a draw in eight matches.
Not a matter of course for a club that has already shared the points ten times. Four times it’s been 0-0 at half-time, so there’s usually something going on in the first half.
Incidentally, the Seagulls narrowly lost 2-1 at Anfield and then lost 4-2 at Chelsea. So it’s not really the norm for them to get shot down by top teams, as happened in Nottingham.
Will Manchester City now also stumble over their favorite opponents? Nothing can really go wrong against Brighton at home, but unfortunately anything seems possible in this 2024/25 season.
Brighton are right behind the Sky Blues and could overtake them if they win. The Seagulls’ last few games have been more than good to watch, especially in attack.
Since the visitors have proven to be very accurate away from home anyway and we simply have to trust Manchester City with everything, I have opted for the absolute classic here, which is:
Both teams will score!
