Ligue 1, Matchday 29, Tuesday, 22.04.2025, 8:45 p.m.
A Ligue 1 catch-up game is on the schedule! Nantes welcomes Paris. To give the capital club more time to catch their breath between Champions League games against Aston Villa, the French Football Federation has postponed the match.
In my Nantes PSG prediction, I expect the hosts to put up a fight, as they are only three points above the relegation zone. Points are unlikely, but I think the Canaris are capable of scoring, so I’m going for the odds at Interwetten that both teams will score.
The Ligue 1 bets went really well for me over the Easter weekend, and PSG and Nantes were involved in both matches I made predictions for. With the champions already decided, I recommended both teams to score against Le Havre, and it ended 2-1.
And I thought Stade Rennes were capable of scoring twice against Nantes. Here, too, we saw a 2-1 result. I obviously want to build on that on Tuesday, so I’ve taken a close look at the odds offered by our betting providers with US licenses.
First of all, I’m not blown away by PSG being clear favorites at 1.40. Despite their home advantage, a Nantes win is considered very unlikely at 6.75, and the same goes for a draw (5.75).
As with PSG against Le Havre, I would say that this market is too hot. After all, Paris are already Ligue 1 champions and simply gave their second goalkeeper, Matvey Safonov, a few minutes of playing time at the weekend.
I can well imagine that there will be a few changes to the line-up again on Tuesday. However, there is no need to talk about distortion of competition. After all, the match against Nantes is the third in eight days.
And from a sporting point of view, there is nothing at stake for the record champions. Nevertheless, PSG were clearly the superior team at home against Le Havre, given the chances they created. PSG should be the better team again on Tuesday, but their dominance on the pitch is likely to be less pronounced away from home.
I also rate Nantes as the stronger team at the moment. The most appealing of these odds is the “double chance 1X” at 2.90. However, I don’t want to rely on the hosts’ defense; in my opinion, the best odds are again for both teams to score.
The men in yellow jerseys have had a few stronger games in recent weeks, beating Lille and Nice. Nantes have failed to score in only two of their last eight matches.
At the same time, 2025 has only kept a clean sheet against LOSC so far. At home, however, Nantes has performed well overall, losing only five of its 13 games and winning two of its last three. But that’s no comparison to PSG’s galactic away record. Eleven wins and three draws in 14 matches.
The Parisians have not lost a single match this season. In 2025, they only suffered defeats against Liverpool and Aston Villa in the Champions League, which were ultimately meaningless in terms of qualifying.
PSG last lost to a French team in May 2024, almost a year ago! That was a 1-3 defeat to Toulouse. And how has PSG performed in recent games in Nantes? They have won three of their last five encounters.
However, Nantes have also won two of their previous six games and took a point from the Parc des Princes in the first leg of this season’s encounter, failing to score in only one of their last four games.
In terms of personnel, head coach Antoine Kombouare also has a full squad to choose from in attack. He only has to make a few changes in defense, with captain Pedro Chirivella among those unavailable.
Despite the enormous workload, Paris currently has no injuries to report. Their international rivals could learn a thing or two from that.
The club is also benefiting from the reduction in the league from 20 to 18 teams last season, which means four fewer league games.
At French betting provider Winamax, 97 percent of users are betting on an away win, with just two percent backing Nantes. Ousmane Dembele’s goal tally and goals from both teams are also popular bets.
Conclusion: I expect PSG to have more of the game. However, I’m not entirely convinced they will win away from home. Instead, I expect a self-sacrificing performance from the hosts, who will be looking to extend their cushion above the relegation zone.
Paris has only kept one clean sheet in its last seven matches and has rotated its squad a bit after several games in recent days.
Especially since they face Nice on Friday. With the league title already secured, the only thing left to do is to maintain their form until the Champions League semi-finals.
Both teams to score!
