The one high-flyer in Italy? There doesn’t seem to be one in 2024/25! That’s good news for Napoli, of course, because it means the Sky Blues are right at the top – although their offense leaves a lot to be desired!

There are signs of a very close race at the top! In Italy’s Serie A, a number of clubs are in the draw for the championship title, including Napoli. Twelve wins, two draws and three defeats are the bare figures.
Since a 3-0 defeat to Hellas Verona on the first matchday, they have only failed to win four times – and with Lazio Roma, Atalanta Bergamo, Juventus Turin and Inter Milan, all four of these opponents are also high up in the table.
The last two games have seen Napoli score five goals, 3-1 against Udinese Calcio and 2-1 against Genoa – something that is by no means a given! Napoli are not a team bursting with attacking verve.
26 goals have been scored, while Atalanta and Inter, between whom the club are ranked, have already collected 42 each. Four times it was more than two goals, nine times the fans had to be satisfied with a maximum of one goal.
With twelve goals conceded, Napoli have the best defense of all clubs. Do I still have to let the spoilsport hang out here too? A bit, actually, because the last time they conceded three goals in a row was in the 2024/25 season.
Since there were only two results with more than one goal conceded, an interesting bet at Interwetten could be worthwhile. The bet that the next opponent, Venezia, will also score exactly one goal on Sunday
The odds for this bet are 2.55. Interesting: The bet that Venezia will score in principle is also already at 1.90 – word has of course got around about the home side’s strong defense.
Incidentally, I can go through the history of the clash with Venezia in a flash, as there have only been two matches since 2004. Napoli won 2-0 twice in the 2021/22 season, a result that would also fit perfectly into the statistics at the moment.
For our tax-free bookmakers, a Napoli victory with more than one goal difference is also absolutely conceivable, as the average 1×2 odds are 1.30 to 10.0.
Venezia is second last, has lost ten of the 17 rounds and has only won three times. However, the team is currently in its most consistent phase of the season, having not lost in three games.
They drew 2-2 against Como and Juventus Turin, and then finally managed to win again in the 2-1 draw against Cagliari (2-1). Two goals three times in a row – the team must maintain this offensive improvement.
There was even a heavy dose of bad luck involved, as the equalizer against Juve only came in the last second of stoppage time – from a penalty. Venezia have not conceded a goal since mid-September, which is definitely a weakness.
The fact that they have won all three matches at home should not exactly be an advantage in view of the upcoming away game. How do things generally look away from home?
Three points, 7:19 goals – not good, not good at all! At the same time, however, Venezia rarely get caught out. The 0:4 against Milan was the only defeat, otherwise it was only clear in the 0:3 in Bologna.
Can Venezia’s small upward trend continue? They haven’t lost in three games, which is really something to be proud of. Of course, Napoli are much stronger in terms of quality, but it wouldn’t have taken a detailed prediction to analyze that.
The Himmelblauen are playing at the top of the table and owe their second place primarily to their defense. Offensively, they are not doing enough, as Napoli themselves should know. In this respect, the game against Venezia is by no means a foregone conclusion.
After looking at all the facts, I have decided to see the favorites ahead, but not too clearly. My tip is therefore:
Napoli will not lose by a maximum of three goals!
