ÖFB Cup, 1st round, Sunday, July 28, 2024, 18:30
All of us in the editorial team love cup surprises at least as much as a decent odds boost that spices up our winnings.
In the case of the 1st round of the ÖFB Cup, my focus is firmly on the Neusiedl Rapid betting tip. This one does not assume a cup sensation, but at least a competitive match over long stretches of the game
Rapid Vienna have already fully arrived in the new 2024/25 season. After all, they already had to play an important Europa League qualifier against Wisla Krakow on Thursday.
On Sunday, the Viennese will continue their busy schedule with another away trip – this time, however, within their own national borders.
Neusiedl are certainly looking forward to this prestigious visit! Although the regional league team has the pleasure of participating in the ÖFB Cup relatively often, they have not downed a Bundesliga team for some time now
Short review: In the 2018/19 season, the Burgenlanders managed to take down an Austrian soccer heavyweight with a 1-0 win over Admira Wacker.
However, this was also their own historic highlight in this cup competition since 1983! This was followed by five consecutive first round defeats, two of which were against current Bundesliga teams.
However, my Neusiedl Rapid betting tip only really becomes interesting when we look at these two cup defeats in detail.
Surprisingly, both Wolfsberger AC and WSG Tirol had to rely on the luck of the penalty lottery to advance to the 2nd round
I don’t know how my esteemed betting friend Gerald reacted to his favorite club’s transfer campaign, but I doubt he’ll be overly pleased with it.
Leopold Querfeld and Fally Mayulu moved to Union Berlin and Bristol City respectively for substantial sums, while Marco Grull – who I had high hopes for – is now trying his luck at Werder Bremen.
Meanwhile, I’m not particularly convinced by the list of new signings. Mamadou Sangaré (RB Salzburg) and Benjamin Bockle (Düsseldorf) are talented players, but there are still a lot of question marks hanging over them
What speaks in favor of the Hütteldorfer in any case is the playing experience they have already gained.
The Bundesliga side have already played half a dozen games since the summer break and managed to get at least one satisfactory result in a friendly against AC Milan (1:1).
The regional league side, on the other hand, took to the pitch for the first time since the end of the 2023/24 season a few days ago in a 2-1 defeat against Slovakian side FK Raca
In our experience, it is difficult to get a wide range of betting offers for the respective first round matches of the ÖFB Cup.
Even the best sports betting apps usually publish the 1X2 odds for the respective matches on the match day itself.
Consequently, I will not outline any sophisticated betting scenarios for you, as you are unlikely to be able to place corresponding Neusiedl Rapid tips
Since I expect a narrow 1:0 or 2:1 win for Rapid Vienna, I recommend a bet along the lines of Neusiedl wins with HC +3.
If you’re feeling a little more daring or this offer is not available, you can select a draw bet, which would give the spectator extra time and give you considerable odds of around 14.0.
It’s not my preferred Neusiedl Rapid prediction, but in terms of the payout/probability ratio, I think this scenario is much more interesting than the prospect of a thunderous win for the Bundesliga side.
At first glance, you might think that a Neusiedl Rapid betting tip is celebrating its premiere – and in a way, it is. After all, there has never been a competitive match between the two clubs.
However, there have been two test matches between the two cup opponents so far, which were played in 2016 and 2022.
While the then regional league side lost the first clash 0:9, they proved to be much more competitive six years later in the subsequent visit to the capital (1:3).
Conclusion: Rapid Vienna are fully focused on the Europa League second leg against Wisla Krakow. Furthermore, after the 2:1 win in the second leg, the team urgently needs to rotate until then.
After all, Rapid played more than a half with ten men against the Poles!
In my opinion, last year’s ÖFB Cup finalists still need to acquire a capable attacking player, but they should be able to get through the first round even without a new signing.
However, I’m not sure whether the capital city team, like their league rivals Wolfsberg and Tirol in beautiful Neusiedl am See, won’t also have to play “detention”.
My Neusiedl Rapid Vienna is: Win Neusiedl with handicap +3
