FA Cup, 5th round, Sunday, 02.03.2025 at 14:45
In the FA Cup, we have reached the round of the best eight, in my Newcastle Brighton betting tip, I can now deal with two teams that are fighting for the international places in the Premier League.
As both teams have similar strengths, the bookmakers are also struggling to name a clear favorite. In my analysis, I’ll tell you exactly why I’m betting on an over/under and saying: The 2.5 goals will be cracked!
Five points between fourth and tenth? A lot of people want to be in the Champions League! For my Newcastle Brighton betting tip, it makes sense to take a look at the table, because both are in exactly this group.
Newcastle United are three points behind fourth place (ManCity), but are in sixth place at the top. After a difficult period with two defeats in their last three competitive games, the Magpies must regain their composure if they are not to lose ground.
The 4-0 humiliation against Manchester City was followed by a memorable performance against Nottingham. Newcastle initially trailed in the top match, but then completely turned on the heat and led 4-1 at the break! The final score: 4:3, so it was unnecessarily exciting once again.
The most recent result was a relatively unspectacular 0:2 against Liverpool.
With nine goals conceded in the last three games, nobody is satisfied, of course, and the difference in performance cannot really be explained. The last 15 appearances in competitive matches have been wonderful, especially for the neutral fan.
Why? Quite simply because they scored an average of 3.53 goals per match! Three times they conceded at least three goals, but seven times they scored a treble or even more.
Alexander Isak naturally deserves a special mention here. The former Bundesliga striker has scored a total of 21 times so far and has also assisted five times. Three times a brace and once a treble, the Swede is in really good form!
However, the goalscorer missed the 2-0 defeat to Liverpool during the week due to a groin problem, so it remains to be seen whether he will be fit to play on Sunday.
Nevertheless, the goal bet at Bet365 has odds of 2.40; if he scores more than one goal, the value rises to a fantastic 8.50.
He also scored twice against Nottingham, and now the center forward wants to score for the first time in the FA Cup. In the 3rd round, when Newcastle entered the competition, he was not even in the squad, but they won 3-1 against Bromley.
A few weeks ago, a 3:2 win against Birmingham followed. Now that the first Premier League opponent awaits, further rotation is out of the question. Incidentally, the opponents took the lead in both rounds
If the same thing happens on Sunday, you can get odds of 2.20 at Betano. The price: A 1:0 from Brighton and registration with this bookmaker, which can also earn you up to 100 euros in betting credit if you opt for the bonus.
Something else I’d definitely like to mention: 25 of the Magpies’ 27 games in the Premier League featured goals before the break, and at home the spectators were cheering left or right (or both) in really every game.
Very interesting: It was NEVER a draw at the break, but that’s exactly the case in the two FA Cup games. After three duels without a win, it is immensely important to prevail against Brighton once again.
They lost 1-0 in the first half of the season, a result that doesn’t fit in with their current attacking form. In any case, Newcastle are favored for this home game, although the odds of 2.10 to 3.10 are not that clear.
Of course, you can also bet on them to progress, in which case odds of 1.60 to 2.20 are available. Brighton should arrive with plenty of confidence, having won twice in a row in the league recently.
3:0 against Chelsea and 4:0 against Southampton, the attack is not to be criticized, during the week there was a 2:1 against Bournemouth. But beware: this very team lost 7-0 to Nottingham before winning the treble pack, so they seem to be rather fickle on the road.
The Seagulls are an absolute miracle team that can cause a sensation, especially away from home. Their average away from home is exactly 3.5 goals, which fits in perfectly with what we found out about Newcastle.
And in the FA Cup? A few days ago, they beat Chelsea FC 2-1 and Brighton had no problems at all in their 4-0 win over Norwich in Round 3 of the competition.
Newcastle and Brighton are likely to go toe-to-toe, with only one point separating them in the league. The clash that awaits us at St. James Park on Sunday is a tough one.
The Magpies have scored an incredible number of goals in recent weeks, which is due to their strong attack on the one hand and their fragile defense on the other. Brighton, on the other hand, can be expected to score anything from 0:7 to 4:0.
All in all, I therefore expect a. Tough cup fight in which both teams give each other nothing. After the last few weeks, my tip is:
My tip: Over 2.5 goals
