Want to escape the German summer? Why not take a trip to Sweden? While we still have to wait a few weeks for the start of the top soccer league, the ball has been rolling again in Scandinavia for quite some time now.
In my Östers Malmö tip, I’m looking at one of the best-known Swedish teams. However, as they are not really in form, I’ll reveal in my prediction why I’m placing a handicap bet +2 on the underdog.
Anyone who follows international competitions regularly will of course be familiar with Malmö FF. One of Sweden’s best soccer clubs wants to win the championship in 2025, but it will need to make up a lot of ground to do so.
After just 16 rounds, the team is already ten points behind, and of course it has only itself to blame for this gap.
It’s basically okay that they’ve only lost three times…
..but the six draws have cost them far too many points. Of the seven wins, which is a very important point for me, five were at home – so it’s unfortunate that they have another away game this weekend.
Three of the last four away games ended with exactly one point. At the same time, we also recognize that only one goal has been scored in the last three away games.
But there is also another fact that should not be underestimated. Malmö has conceded twelve goals, which is the best defensive record in the league, shared with Hammarby.
The special thing is that they have only conceded two goals in the first half! It is therefore logical that Betano’s odds for the bet “Östers will score” (regardless of when) have been raised to 1.65.
If odds of just under 1.40 are enough for you, you can place a safe bet on “Östers will not score in the first half.” On the other hand, it should also be noted that Malmö has only scored twice in the second half of their away games so far.
So, should you bet on “No Malmö goal in the second half”? The odds of 3.00 at Betano are certainly impressive. This is backed up by the fact that Östers have conceded only one goal in the second half of their last six games.
But more on that later. First, I want to tell you that looking at history doesn’t tell us much. The twelve direct duels are wildly distributed, with the favorites from Malmö winning 2-0 in the first half of the season.
How clear is the favorite this time around? I see average odds of 1.45 to 6.50 at our bookmakers with fast payouts, which is a nice lead for an away match.
Now let’s dive into the analysis of the underdog. Östers is at home in Växjö, Sweden, fighting to escape the relegation zone. The team is currently second from bottom, but the gap is still within reach.
Östers has scored twelve goals – no other team has scored fewer. Interestingly, the team seems to perform in “blocks.” It lost seven of its first eight games and failed to score in six of them.
This was followed by a phase with five games without defeat, in which they always scored. However, this brief upturn is now over. With a 0-1 defeat to Mjallby and a 0-2 defeat to Brommapojkarna, it seems as if the defeats without scoring are lining up again.
At home, Östers has only been behind at half-time once. So is the double chance 1X after the first 45 minutes a good bet for you? Definitely, because the odds are 1.83.
The team has scored only one goal in the first half of a home game, but then again, they have only scored five goals in total in front of their own fans.
Anyone who knows Malmö knows that no one is satisfied with the current results. The results are not as desired, especially away from home, where too many chances are being squandered. The defense is working wonderfully, but the offense is not.
On the other hand, Östers is a team that is difficult to assess. They don’t usually do much offensively, but they also have other, better days. It’s unclear which team will show up this weekend.
Given the visitors’ poor away form, I don’t think this will be a clear-cut affair. That’s why I’m going for the following bet:
A 2-0 HC will be enough for Östers to “win”!
