Partizan Belgrade – Gent betting tip, prediction & odds 22.08.2024

Conference League Quali, Play-Offs, first leg, Thursday, 22.08.2024 at 20:15

Out of competition number one, out of competition number two – good that at least a third remains on the international stage! In Belgrade, all hopes now rest on the Conference League, with the first leg of the play-offs taking place this week.

The fans, known for their frenetic support, will do their best. But will that be enough to convince me in my Partizan Belgrade Gent betting tip? Unfortunately not really, because I’ll tell you now why I favor the DC X2 bet at Over 1.5 goals

Partizan Belgrade still have one last chance, and nobody wants to miss it. The Serbs were actually aiming to reach the group stage of the Champions League for the first time since 2010.

This attempt ended in the 2nd round of qualifying, and with a bang. They had no chance at all against Dynamo Kiev, first losing 2:6 and then 0:3.

Conceding nine goals naturally gave the defense something to think about. They should have at least managed to progress in the Europa League, but there wasn’t much to laugh about in the 3rd qualifying round either

The team lost 1:0 at home to Lugano, and a 2:2 draw after extra time in the second leg sealed their elimination. Partizan were more or less passed from competition to competition.

Unfortunately, their domestic record of three wins and one draw, plus four clean sheets, is of no help at all, as their opponents outside Serbia are much stronger

So how will Partizan approach the home game against Gent? They want to keep a clean sheet, but at the same time they need to score a goal of their own.

0:1 and 0:3, the respective home games against Lugano and Dynamo Kiev were more than unpleasant. Unpleasant, which is a good segue to the question of whether KAA Gent is an opponent against whom the outlook is positive

Partizan have played ten matches against teams from Belgium so far. How many of them have they won? Just one! Not good news, then, as 60% of those games ended in defeat.

Incidentally, Belgrade also played Ghent directly not so long ago, with two matches in the group stage of the Conference League in 2021. 0:1 and 1:1, it was close, but a victory was not possible here either

Does it help that Partizan were given an extra game off by the Serbian FA last weekend so that they could concentrate fully on the European Cup?

Not only in the Sunmaker app, the odds amount to an average of 1.95 to 3.60, and that’s from Gent’s point of view. So the Belgians arrive with the role of favorites in their luggage, but of course they have to underline it

And this despite the fact that not everything went according to plan in the last round. Extra time had to help against Silkeborg, which at least ended well in front of the home fans.

The two teams had already produced a wild spectacle in the first leg. The score was 1-1 until deep into injury time, only then were two goals scored and no one left the pitch as the winner.

A few days later, Ghent equalized again in stoppage time, which was the only way the club had any chance of progressing. The second round of qualifying was also an offensive affair

4:1 and 3:0 against Vikingur, the Belgians were always in control. The only striking thing was that they conceded goals in three out of four games. Something that I also recognize in the Jupiler Pro League.

1:0, 1:2, 0:1 and 4:1, Ghent have not yet found the consistency they wanted. On the positive side for the fans, however: Their team has also recommended itself for the competition whenever it has been active in the Conference League Quali.

A quick look at the odds has shown us: Ghent go into the match against Partizan Belgrade favored. I could understand that straight away, after all, the home side were dispatched by Dynamo Kiev and Lugano were also too strong.

Defensively, Partizan have major problems. Ghent are certainly not an outstanding team, but they have definitely impressed offensively in the qualifying matches so far. All in all, it was not easy to place a bet.

Ghent is certainly a bit stronger individually and has a good offense, while Partizan has conceded a few goals. All in all, this leads me to the following tip:

Ghent won’t lose by at least two goals
