Some of us love them, many of us hate them: the international break. It is also popular with clubs and players to varying degrees, because some always perform strongly after the international matches, while others find it difficult.
Reason enough for us to take a look at the results in the Bundesliga after an international break and to clarify who the kings are after the national team break since the 2021/22 season.
We show you which teams scored the most points and scored/conceded the most goals. But we also show you which players have scored the most goals after an international break and how things stand with yellow and red cards. Let’s go!
Bundesliga points after international break: Augsburg top
If you look at the Bundesliga table after international breaks, starting with 2021/22, you will see numerous familiar names.
Of course, none of them has earned more points than FC Bayern Munich, but then again, no team generally earns more points than the league giant. With 25 points from eleven games, they top the table. However, that also means that they had to accept a draw and two defeats.
The two places behind them are also no surprise. Borussia Dortmund is in second place with 24 points and one more defeat than Bayern. Bayer Leverkusen is also in third place with 22 points. But then comes the surprise.
FC Augsburg is in 4th place. 20 points and only one defeat in eleven games are a sensational result for the FCA. With 14 goals conceded, they have only conceded one goal less than Bayern. According to expectations, the international break is probably no more than Augsburg.
But two other teams have conceded the fewest goals of all teams that have played at least ten games. Eintracht Frankfurt has conceded nine goals, while Union Berlin has conceded even fewer (or rather more?) with eight.
In contrast, FC Bayern has scored the most goals with 34 and the lead over BVB with 29 goals is already quite large. VfB Stuttgart is also striking here with 20 goals, although they have already scored fewer points (16) than the top teams.
The top scorers after the international break
Of course, the game after the Bundesliga break doesn’t just suit teams, but players too. And this also shows why Stuttgart is so far ahead in terms of goals.
Because three of the six most prolific scorers have connections to VfB. The first place is shared by four players with six goals each: Serhou Guirassy, Ermedin Demirovic, Donyell Malen and, of course, Harry Kane.
Behind them, there are two players with five goals, namely the in-form player par excellence, Omar Marmoush, and Deniz Undav.
However, a few players also start a little aggressively after the LSP. Waldemar Anton, Anthony Caci and Ridle Baku all have five yellow cards in games after the break. However, new Dortmund player Anton is ahead because he also has a red card.
The same applies to Manu Kone, who, like Erhan Masovic, Kevin Kampl and Stefan Bell, has “only” four yellow cards.
