Porto – Al Ahly Tip Club World Cup, Group A on Tuesday, 24.06.2025 at 03:00
Things weren’t looking good for Al Ahly until the final whistle against Palmeiras! The Egyptians were trailing 0-2 at the end and it had never looked like they could stage a comeback.
According to my Porto Al-Ahly prediction, the team will not manage to improve their points tally on matchday 3.
Instead, I expect them to be eliminated from Club World Cup Group A with just one point.
FC Porto has significantly more class, and the sports betting providers agree.
After all, most of the Porto Al Ahly odds from betting providers with PayPal are exactly as I would have defined them myself.
The Portuguese have significantly more offensive power and should therefore be able to win the game quite comfortably.
Porto – Al Ahly prediction & bets
Will the Portuguese sweep the Egyptians away like a tsunami? Probably not.
Nevertheless, I am primarily expecting a comfortable clean-sheet victory for FC Porto, which Betano Germany is currently offering at odds of around 3.10.
Those who want to take a slightly higher risk could alternatively consider a 2-0 result bet in favor of the Portuguese, which I have my eye on, at current odds of around 9.50.
What you need to consider when betting on Porto vs. Al Ahly
- Porto has only kept a clean sheet three times in its last ten competitive games. Against Maimi, Porto lost for the fourth time this season after taking the lead.
- Despite 1.98 xG against Inter Miami and only 0.29 xG in the game against Palmeiras, Al Ahly has yet to score a goal in the Club World Cup. With odds of over 2.50 for less than 0.5 goals from Al Ahly, the bookmakers expect the Egyptians to finish the tournament without scoring.
- Al Ahly have not failed to score in three consecutive games since a run of three 0-0 draws in December 2024.
- Al Ahly have played a total of 29 games in the Intercontinental Cup and Club World Cup, 25 more than Porto. However, the Egyptians have lost both matches against European opponents (Bayern Munich and Real Madrid).
- After managing just 36 touches and one pass in the final third against Palmeiras on the first matchday, Porto playmaker Fabio Vieira led the game against Inter Miami in terms of touches (100) and passes in the final third (17).
Porto – Al Ahly: odds analysis
At first glance, I don’t find ChatGPT’s AI prediction for Porto vs. Al Ahly very convincing.
In fact, I’m not particularly convinced by the suggestions of the world-renowned AI assistant – I’m leaning too much towards a confident performance from the Portuguese side.
Accordingly, I have a problem with the suggestion “Double Chance X2”. Yes, Al Ahly managed to hold on for a draw against Inter Miami, but they had to sweat it out until the end.
In my opinion, Porto has significantly more quality and, given the starting position, will hardly be satisfied with a draw – there is simply too much potential in this team.
“Both teams to score” is currently only rated at odds of 1.65 – another Porto–Al Ahly tip that I personally would not recommend.
The Egyptians are still waiting for their first goal in this tournament and, given their limited offensive power, could also be shattered by the well-organized defense of the Portuguese.
Too little punch, too little pace – it smells more like a shutout victory for Porto than an open slugfest.
The best odds for Porto vs. Al Ahly
The betting odds for the match between Porto and Al Ahly point to a clear division of roles – with the Portuguese side having the upper hand.
A win for FC Porto is currently listed at odds of 1.70, which corresponds to an estimated probability of around 57%. The bookmakers therefore believe that the team will live up to its role as favorite against the top African club.
A draw is rated at odds of 3.90, which corresponds to a probability of around 24%. This means that a draw remains a realistic possibility if Al Ahly defends disciplinedly.
A surprise victory for the Egyptians is a real long shot, with odds of 4.40 – mathematically, this corresponds to a probability of only around 19%.
Porto vs. Al Ahly match analysis:
Porto have only picked up one point from their two games so far, but the Portuguese side still look much more stable and structured than their next opponents from Egypt. The team started with a respectable 0-0 draw against Palmeiras before losing 2-1 to Inter Miami.
Despite the defeat, Porto put in two impressive performances, moving the ball well and creating a number of dangerous chances. The game against Miami was wide open for long periods, and with a little more clinical finishing in the final third, a win could even have been possible.
Al Ahly, on the other hand, has struggled enormously so far. Although the Egyptians fought hard to earn a goalless draw against Inter Miami in their opening game, this partial success was mainly due to the passivity of both teams.
In their second game against Palmeiras, they suffered a deserved 0-2 defeat, with Al Ahly struggling to create any offense and looking overwhelmed defensively on several occasions. Their offensive efforts were limited, and goal-scoring opportunities were few and far between.
Overall, Porto strike me as the more mature team, both in terms of their play and their individual quality.
Even though the results haven’t been good so far, I believe the Portuguese are capable of securing their first win against the weak Egyptians and still qualifying for the next round.
My prediction: Half-time/Full-time Porto/Porto
