RB Leipzig – VfB Stuttgart Tip, AI Prediction & Odds 05/17/2025

Bundesliga Matchday 34, Saturday, 05/17/2025, 3:30 p.m.

The big goal: Compete for the title. The main goal: to qualify for the Champions League with ease. The minimum goal: to qualify for the Champions League on the last matchday.

The bitter reality: watching from the sidelines on the final Bundesliga weekend, still fighting for sixth place!

RB Leipzig cannot be satisfied with this season, with the Saxons even facing the prospect of being knocked out of all international competitions.

To finish off, they now face an opponent who has only one thing on their mind: avoiding any new injuries so they are fit for the DFB Cup final.

My RB Leipzig Stuttgart tip is under very special circumstances this time. The home side are under enormous pressure and have to keep one eye on Mainz 05.

No one knows exactly what to expect from the visitors from the Ländle. A little tip on the side: Even at the ESC, you never really know what to expect from the German entry. Accordingly, you can find out about the odds for this major musical event here.

After dismal years against RB, the Swabians have recently played themselves into a frenzy, celebrating three high-scoring victories against Leipzig. On Leipzig soil, however, they have never won.

Ultimately, I believe that this encounter will also be characterized by some idle play and will not necessarily end in a goal fest. That’s why I’ve decided to bet on under 3.5 goals.

The bookmakers’ prediction?

After many disappointing performances, it is almost surprising that RB Leipzig are the clear favorites on Saturday. The odds for a win are as high as 2.00.

Of course, it is important to note that Stuttgart have never won in Leipzig. This means that the Swabians deserve to go into the game with odds of 3.05.

A draw would only help Leipzig if Mainz loses against Leverkusen at the same time. Since the Bulls have already drawn six times at home, I wouldn’t rule out a draw at odds of 4.20.

AI prediction RB Leipzig vs VfB Stuttgart: ChatGPT’s prediction

Can ChatGPT factor the relevance of this match for Europe into its betting predictions? The three tips I got from the AI seem quite interesting.

The result bet available to us this time is 3:2. Obviously, this contradicts the defensive approach I am taking. Since the Bulls have failed to score nine times this season and have not been able to cope particularly well with pressure, I am very skeptical here.

Half-time/Full-time 1/1 – this bet is also suggested to us. Stuttgart likes to take the lead, but has already squandered 23 (!) points this way. Since RB didn’t lead at half-time in three of their last four games, I’m not quite as enthusiastic here either.

The double chance 1X, which carries little risk with odds of just under 1.40, is of course based on the fact that Stuttgart has never won in Leipzig. Since I can most likely imagine a draw, that could well be the outcome.

Analysis: RB Leipzig vs VfB Stuttgart

RB Leipzig is having a thoroughly disappointing season, there’s no other way to put it. With 13 wins, 12 draws, and eight losses, they are falling well short of their own expectations.

The team is currently on a four-game winless streak, with four wins in their last 17 games, which is historically poor. This is only the second time since 2017/18 that they have missed out on the Champions League, and it would be a first if RB failed to qualify for Europe at all.

They go into the final matchday in seventh place, so they are dependent on Mainz. If Mainz win against Leverkusen (Bayer have nothing to play for), the Bulls would have to win themselves and make up six goals.

Although they have already kept 14 clean sheets, they have also failed to score nine times. Two home defeats, only Bayern have fewer, are acceptable, but with six draws, their win rate is only 50 percent.

Odds analysis

The Swabians have scored eleven times in the opening quarter of an hour, which is a really strong record. If you want to bet on a VfB goal in the first half, you can get odds of 1.80 at Oddset.

Since so many points have already been squandered after taking the lead, you can bet on “Leipzig wins after falling behind.” This carries an extremely high risk, but with odds of 5.90, it could pay off if you’re successful.

A 1-1 draw would actually be my favorite among the result bets. Since Leipzig likes to play for a draw at home, this tip could end up being accurate at odds of 10.25.

RB Leipzig vs. VfB Stuttgart: Will Leipzig hold their nerve?

It is also interesting to note that eight of the last eleven home games had more than 1.5 goals at half-time, while the first five had only seen three goals in the first half.

This weekend could even see a first, as Leipzig could go five games without a win for the first time ever in the Bundesliga.

Kiel, Heidenheim, Gladbach, Union Berlin, Wolfsburg – RB have dropped points at home against all of these teams. Unfortunately, not all of the Saxony side’s regulars will be available for this important league finale.

Lukas Klostermann is suspended, Willi Orban is injured and Amadou Haidara is definitely out. However, Leipzig fans should take heart from their head-to-head record against Stuttgart.

Although the last three encounters were lost with ten goals conceded, BUT: all of the defeats came away from home, and the Red Bull Arena has been an absolute fortress when the Swabians have visited.

5-1, 2-1, 4-0, 2-0, 2-0, 1-0 – these results are impressive. VfB have only scored twice in Leipzig, so it’s time for Stuttgart to put their negative results behind them.

Stuttgart step it up again

In the Bundesliga, Sebastian Hoeneß’s team is now just focused on maintaining their rhythm, because there are only a few days left until the big cup final against Arminia Bielefeld in Berlin.

After only two wins in twelve games, the Swabians were naturally very dissatisfied. The performances weren’t even that bad, it was just that the results didn’t reflect the effort put in.

However, the slump in results now seems to be over, as the 1-0 win against St. Pauli was followed by a 4-0 victory against Augsburg. This win was particularly pleasing, as VfB had lost six games in a row at home.

Away from home, they have never really been that bad, as the following fact proves: two defeats in their last twelve games. Incidentally, there could be a new development in terms of defense.

They have just kept two clean sheets in a row – the last time they did that in the Bundesliga was in spring 2018 under Tayfun Korkut! Another impressive statistic is that they have only gone into the half-time break behind once away from home.

There have been twelve draws – from 0-0 to 4-4, everything has been on the cards. If the score is level after the first 45 minutes, Merkur-Bets is offering odds of 2.68. On top of that, there is the Merkur-Bets bonus, which could see you get a $40 free bet, for example.

Nick Woltemade, Stuttgart’s center forward, has scored in each of his last four games. As he was also among the goalscorers in the 2-1 win against Leipzig in the first half of the season, a goal bet at Betano odds of 3.05 could be worthwhile.

For the sake of completeness, I would like to briefly mention the injured players. Angelo Stiller has been hit and is also doubtful for the cup final. Fortunately, the other injured professionals have not been as badly affected.

My RB Leipzig VfB Stuttgart tip:

Will RB Leipzig at least make it into the Conference League? They have to overtake Mainz 05 somehow, so it’s good that their last opponent from Stuttgart no longer has any sporting goals in the Bundesliga.

And yet, the Swabians want to build on their recent momentum to head into the cup final in a positive mood. Of course, they know they’ve never won in Leipzig.

In my opinion, RB will be under enormous pressure on Saturday. If news from Mainz spreads, for example of a (perhaps even significant) lead, it would certainly have a major impact on their own game. That’s why I’m expecting a somewhat tired game and my prediction is:

We’ll see a maximum of three goals!
