Major League Soccer 2025, Matchday 23, Thursday, 17.07.2025 at 04:30
Enhanced odds are not only available for the 2025 Women’s European Championship or other European soccer events, but also for a San Diego Toronto tip.
After all, bookmakers on both sides of the Atlantic are increasingly interested in Major League Soccer and the success story currently being written by the newcomers from California.
New franchises are springing up like mushrooms in Major League Soccer – the US market is booming, interest is growing, and more and more money is flowing into soccer. A prime example of this is San Diego FC, which was only founded on May 18, 2023.
Despite its young age, the club is already causing a sensation: after 22 match days in the 2025 season, the newcomer leads the Western Conference with an impressive 42 points.
This demonstrates not only the quality of the team, but also the impressive infrastructure and vision behind the project. The rapid rise of SDFC could be a new milestone in US soccer.
The management of San Diego FC is also impressively proving that it is possible to compete at the top of Major League Soccer without decades of history or astronomical sums of money – at least at first glance.
Because although the club is young and was considered more of an outsider at the beginning, it surprisingly dug deep into its pockets for the 2025 season. With the signings of Hirving Lozano and Anders Dreyer – costing a combined €20 million – it has invested specifically in quality.
Both new arrivals from Europe immediately gave the California team a new look – and have played a decisive role in its current position at the top of the table.
Take note: San Diego FC has scored the most goals in the league this season. In 34 games, they have scored 46 times (the league average is 29.4), which equates to an average of 1.4 goals per game.
Lozano brings experience and pace to the wing, while Dreyer adds creativity and finishing ability. This combination provides offensive power that few teams in the MLS can currently match.
The club management’s plan seems to be working perfectly, as evidenced not only by their position at the top of the table, but also by their attractive style of play.
The next highlight is coming up on Thursday – and objectively speaking, there is little to suggest that San Diego FC’s success story will not continue.
They have the form, the confidence, and the individual class, so it would not be unusual for them to pick up another three points and defend their place in the sun.
Toronto FC is currently experiencing a season to forget, and that comes as no surprise. Even before the first matchday, it was clear that the team lacked the transfers that could underpin real playoff ambitions.
The club’s management remained cautious in the transfer market, which is now coming back to haunt them: after 22 matchdays, they have only won one of their last seven games.
What’s more, they are already 11 points behind the playoff spots. It looks like it will be another postseason without TFC.
Although the season is not over yet for Toronto, the trend is clearly downward – both in terms of performance and morale. Resignation is spreading among the fans, especially as the performances on the pitch rarely give cause for hope.
It is therefore likely to be a difficult task against their upcoming opponents San Diego FC, who are currently looking like title contenders. A respectable result would be progress – but even that seems unlikely at the moment.
The fact that the home side have won five of their last six MLS games would be enough for me to place a San Diego Toronto bet on the Western Conference leaders.
However, the home win odds at almost all bookmakers with fast payouts are only 1.30, so one or two additional conditions are inevitably required to raise the potential winnings to an acceptable level.
“Over 2.5 goals & Both teams to score” is a San Diego Toronto tip that can be selected with a single click in the Betano app and is almost my first choice.
The combined odds at the bookie in question are 2.07, which is really not bad considering that each of San Diego’s last five MLS games has met both conditions.
What’s more, the Californians have recently delivered spectacular games with high entertainment value and lots of goals! Four of the SDFC’s five games since mid-June have produced at least five goals in total.
So what’s my risky recommendation for all the brave sports betting fans among you? “Over 4.5 goals” at fantastic odds of around 3.75 on average.
Conclusion: San Diego FC is brimming with confidence and currently playing like a real top team. With a well-rehearsed offense and clear superiority in form, there is currently little to suggest that Toronto will be successful.
On the contrary, everything points to the Western Conference leaders dominating Thursday’s game and winning comfortably.
My San Diego Toronto tip is therefore: SDFC win & over 2.5 goals.
