After Greece, Portugal and Poland, Fernando Santos is now taking over the national team of Azerbaijan. This was confirmed by the country’s soccer association on Wednesday. The 69-year-old Portuguese, who won the 2016 European Championship as head coach of his home country, has been hired to “form a competitive team and successfully qualify for Euro 2028”. He was most recently under contract at Besiktas Istanbul, where he was sacked in April after continued failure and just four months in charge.
