Series A, Sunday, 14.04.2024
The realization that the “Neroverdi” used to be really good against the upcoming opponent, but have performed worse and worse over time, runs like a red thread through my Sassuolo AC Milan prediction.
Nevertheless, in my soccer bet, which I’m putting together and which should serve as inspiration for you, I’m playing through a scenario in which several goals will be scored – and in which the home fans will have at least one reason to cheer …
Milan are impressing with their extreme consistency, which has helped them to record their fifth Serie A win in a row – against an opponent with whom they had enormous problems in the first half of the season.
Defeating Lecce 3-0 on matchday 31, even though AS Roma recently failed to find a way to beat the southern Italians (0-0), is just another reason why the AC Milan board did well to keep Stefano Pioli as coach until the end.
However, city rivals Inter Milan have an unassailable lead, while perhaps the biggest surprise of the second half of the season could be the Rossoneri finishing runners-up to Juve.
Even in the worst-case scenario, a return to the Champions League no longer seems to be out of their reach.
Sassuolo is an opponent that AC Milan found extremely difficult until a few years ago.
This can be seen from the fact that Sassuolo scored their second most Serie A goals against Milan (30), but after scoring 16 in their first seven games, they have been slow to score in their last 14 matches.
Furthermore, the Neroverdi won all of their very first three first league home games against Milan, but since then have been on the losing end of their last seven home games at the Mapei Stadium against this opponent (1 draw, 6 defeats).
Sassuolo are fighting desperately against relegation and the fact that they have not lost in three of their last four Serie A games could actually give their supporters some confidence ahead of Saturday.
However, points have only been scored against direct relegation rivals such as Frosinone (1-0), Udinese (1-1) and Sassuolo (2-2) during this period.
Although the men in green and black put in a great deal of effort, without Domenico Berardi, who will be injured until the new season, they will be unable to cope with a top team like Milan.
Placing an away win bet using the Interwetten app at odds of around 1.70 wouldn’t be such a bad idea considering the current Sassuolo AC Milan odds.
But if you want to wring a little more profit out of your soccer bet, you should think about one or two promising additional conditions that are worth adding.
If I were you, I would focus my attention on the “both teams meet” option, which I would be only too happy to include in this match. The reason for this is obvious:
Despite missing their most important attacking player without Berardi, the men in green and black still manage to get into dangerous positions in front of the opposition’s box.
Watch out: Sassuolo have managed to put the ball in the opposition net at least once per match in each of their last ten Serie A home games – what a statistic!
It’s clear that a combination tip of the type “tip 2 wins & both score” is put together in my mind’s eye as straightforwardly as only a “Transformer” can!
Sassuolo have shown significant improvement in recent weeks in terms of their own defensive work.
Before the recent 2-2 draw against Salernitana, they had played four Serie A games in a row in which their own goalkeeper had to make a maximum of one save per match.
However, with Milan’s strong attack on the rise, the home side’s backline could once again be in trouble.
After all, comparably strong attacking departments such as those of Bologna (2:4), Atalanta (0:3) and, above all, Napoli (1:6) have given the relegation candidates from northern Italy a pretty hard time in the last two months.
As a result, I clearly prefer an over-2.5-goal bet to a bet to the contrary in terms of the expected number of goals
Conclusion: I expect a turbulent opening phase and would not be at all surprised if the Green and Blacks manage to take the lead within the first 15 minutes.
In the long run, however, Milan’s powerful offense should take more and more control, so that the second-to-last team in the table, which has problems with fast and tricky wingers, should increasingly falter in the later stages of the game.
Ultimately, I don’t rule out the Rossoneri pulling off an emphatic victory, but the hosts shouldn’t be denied at least a consolation goal.
My tip: Milan win & both score
