In March last year, Felix Allgaier from Schalke’s U23 team suffered a head injury in a regional league match. Now, at just 22 years of age, he has announced his retirement: “Due to ongoing symptoms following my serious head injury last year, I am unable to continue playing soccer at a professional level,” he wrote in a statement.
