SV Darmstadt have extended the contract of regular goalkeeper Marcel Schuhen ahead of schedule. The 32-year-old’s old contract would have expired in the summer. Sporting director Paul Fernie described the veteran as an “important part of this team”. Schuhen himself spoke of a decision that was a sporting one, “but also one of the heart”. The club and player did not provide any information about the duration of the new contract.
