NFL 2024/25: Seahawks – 49ers
Yes, who would have thought it possible? Week 6 is already rolling in and the 49ers are still not at the top of the NFC West.
But if they win the upcoming Thursday night duel, the division could soon see a change in leadership.
In my Seahawks 49ers tip, I focus solely on the offensive output of the “Legion of Boom”.
Let’s start by taking a closer look at the last few performances of the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks.
Both teams have experienced ups and downs so far this season, and we’ll take a look at how they’re coming into this game.
There’s a lot to discuss, and I’ll show you that there’s still no real reason for 49ers fans to worry. That’s because they are still among the NFL favorites for 2024, and rightly so, including with the betting providers!
The Niners were really unlucky in their last game against the Arizona Cardinals. They led by 10 points in the fourth quarter when RB Jordan Mason lost the ball in the opposing half.
The San Francisco defense then failed to stop the Cardinals from making up the difference. Although Arizona only scored 3 out of 10 third-down attempts, the Niners ultimately lost the game 23-24.
How can that be? Well, the 49ers committed three turnovers in the game, which at this level would have cost any team the game.
This loss was a real setback, and it will be interesting to see on Friday how they have recovered in view of the NFC West top game against the Seahawks.
On the other hand, the Seahawks also had to struggle against the New York Giants last weekend.
Although they were favored by a wide margin in the betting markets and were even leading 7-0 at the beginning of the second quarter, the Giants controlled the game and ultimately won 29-20.
Particularly bitter was the blocked 47-yard field goal attempt by K Jason Myers, which led to a crucial touchdown for the Giants.
Despite this defeat, the Seahawks had been in top form beforehand and had won two games in a row. Can they regain their momentum?
In any case, my criticism remains the same: Seattle has so far faced almost only easy opponents.
The Seahawks offense will deliver against SF as well. At least that’s the only area of the home side that shouldn’t disappoint on Friday, as it consistently produces good numbers!
Geno Smith, their QB, continues to lead the league in pass attempts (199) and pass yards (1,466). He is a real playmaker with an impressive completion percentage of 71.9% and 146 rushing yards, which puts him in seventh place for the position.
This season, Seattle is averaging 24.4 points per game, which ranks them 11th in the league. That will certainly give them added confidence when they face the Niners on Friday.
In a game that is expected to be close and have an over-total of 47.5 points, I expect both QBs to throw the ball often and deep.
Brock Purdy should also be able to do this relatively well. The Lions have previously recorded significant gains against the Seattle secondary, even though the latter only allowed 6.68 yards per attempt on average.
Both offenses are relatively healthy, even though the Niners will unfortunately have to do without Jake Moody. That could make a big difference and I can well imagine that a field goal will decide the game in the end.
But is that enough to convince me to bet on a home win? After all, San Francisco has won each of the last five head-to-head duels.
In my Seahawks 49ers betting tip, I give the home side a concession, but without fully siding with them.
I will redeem the Bet365 bonus with the bookmaker offer for this game that SEA will score over 2.5 touchdowns.
That’s 18 points, which should be well within reach against the Californians’ occasionally shaky defense.
Conclusion: My final assessment is that the Seahawks will score at least three touchdowns against the strong 49ers defense.
So far, they have only faced a really tough opponent in the Lions, but their offense has still delivered regularly. Even though a win against San Francisco is not guaranteed, I think Seattle is strong enough offensively to score multiple times on Friday.
Therefore, my Seattle 49ers prediction is: Over 2.5 touchdowns for SEA.
