Cincinnati Masters, Final, Tuesday, 20.08.2024, 00:00
Alexander Zverev missed out on reaching the final in Cincinnati by a hair’s breadth. He had to concede defeat to the world number one in the third set tie-break. Jannik Sinner has the chance to win his next title in 2024.
In the final, he will face Frances Tiafoe, who also secured his place in the final against Holger Rune with a 7-4 win in the tie-break. However, I see the South Tyrolean ahead and therefore opt for the Sinner win odds in combination with success in the first set. Betano offers top odds!
Jannik Sinner’s record in 2024 is fantastic. The 23-year-old has won 48 of his 54 matches. He won his first major title at the Australian Open and shortly afterwards took over first place in the world rankings.
In addition to Melbourne, he also triumphed on his favorite surface, the hardcourt, in Rotterdam, Miami and Halle. He reached at least the semi-finals in eight of the eleven tournaments he played. Everything points to him defending his world number one ranking for the rest of the year.
He personally knocked one of his toughest opponents, Zverev, out of the tournament in Cincinnati in order to extend his lead. Carlos Alcaraz was defeated by Gael Monfils early on in Ohio
Sinner’s biggest opponent is de facto his own body. This year alone, he has had to take several time-outs, missing various Masters tournaments and even the Olympic Games in Paris. His comeback in Montreal was still slow after a month.
But he is still not playing his very best tennis in Cincinnati either. Nevertheless, it was enough for him to reach another final. In the final, he has to assert himself against Tiafoe, who has only won three 250 tournaments so far, but is always in top form at US Open time.
He has only played two 500 finals against Zverev and his compatriot Taylor Fritz, but lost out in Vienna 2021 and Tokyo 2022. The best bookmakers don’t see great chances in the first Masters final. He starts the match against Sinner (1.28) with a 3.75.
Tiafoe has had a difficult year so far. Last year, he was still in the top 10. In 2024, he slipped to 30th place and is currently 27th. In the live ranking, he is back in the top 20 with the points from the Cincinnati final.
Most of the time, he finished early in the tournaments. However, he was able to raise his level during the hard court season. He reached the semi-finals in Washington, where he beat Andrey Rublev, among others.
In Cincinnati, he prevailed against Lorenzo Musetti, Jiri Lehecka, Hubert Hurkacz and Rune. However, the Pole had to retire due to injury. Nevertheless, a week worth seeing for the 26-year-old from Maryland
His dream is to win the title in New York; he reached the quarter-finals in 2022 and the semi-finals in 2023. The 1,000 title in Cincinnati would be his greatest success to date. However, he needs to improve his duel record against Sinner to achieve this.
The score is currently 3:1 in favor of the man from Italy. The last matches were played on hard court in the Austrian capital. Tiafoe triumphed in three sets in 2021. Two years later, a much stronger Sinner easily held his own in two rounds.
In 2024, the difference in performance is even greater, although Sinner is currently not at 100 percent. Both players had to play the last two matches over three sets.
An over match bet in the form of an “Over 21.5” at 1.61 at Intertops, where you can always find odds boost offers in addition to a large selection of bets, is worth considering. Especially since only one game between Sinner and Tiafoe ended smoothly
My Sinner Tiafoe tip
Sinner and Tiafoe made it to the final with two nail-biting victories. The world number one, who took another clear leap forward in his development last winter, is definitely playing at a higher level.
With 3:1, Sinner also leads the direct duel against Tiafoe, who has played a strong tournament in Ohio so far. Nevertheless, Sinner is a different kind of player. 28 wins from 30 hard court matches speak for themselves.
In the quarter-finals and semi-finals he took two heavyweights out of the field, Rublev and Zverev. I’m expecting the next big title for the mentally strong 23-year-old.
My Sinner Tiafoe tip: Set 1 & Match Sinner.
