Favorites & starting position before the Sun Valley World Cup Final 2025
Ahead of the start of the Ski World Cup Finals 2025 in Sun Valley, a few decisions have already been made.
Marco Odermatt has been named the overall World Cup winner, and he has also won the Super-G and Giant Slalom events. In the men’s category, only the Downhill and Slalom events remain to be decided.
In the women’s event, the overall World Cup has been all but awarded to Federica Brignone (99.9 percent), but the four disciplines – downhill, super-G, giant slalom and slalom – are still up for grabs. Brignone could win three of them!
Who has already been crowned the winner and who can still get their hands on the crystal ball in Sun Valley?
Overall World Cup
The men’s Overall World Cup has already been decided ahead of the 2025 Ski World Cup Final.
Marco Odermatt travels to Sun Valley with 1564 points to compete in the final event of the season. Henrik Kristoffersen is in second place in the overall standings with 1006 points.
The Swiss all-rounder has already secured the big crystal globe for the overall World Cup before the final Sun Valley World Cup.
In the women’s event, the overall World Cup is 99.9 percent decided. Federica Brignone has a lead of 382 points over second-placed Lara Gut-Behrami before the remaining four races.
Gut-Behrami would have to win the downhill, super-G and giant slalom, while Brignone would only have to take a handful of points. And then the Swiss skier, who is anything but a slalom specialist, would have to win the slalom to wrap up the title.

Downhill
At the 2025 Ski World Cup Finals, there will be a Swiss duel for the downhill world cup!
Marco Odermatt is currently leading the downhill standings with 605 points ahead of the 2025 Sun Valley World Cup. His closest rival, Franjo von Allmen, has 522 points. The youngster is also the only one who could snatch the crystal from Odermatt in the downhill.
But to do that, von Allmen would have to catch up 83 points in the last downhill race, which is scheduled for Saturday at the Ski World Cup Final 2025. That means: Franjo von Allmen MUST win if he wants to win the downhill world cup.
If von Allmen wins the downhill at the Sun Valley World Cup, Odermatt can only score a maximum of 16 points for “FVA” to win the downhill title after all.
In the women’s event, there is even a three-way battle for the downhill crystal at the 2025 Ski World Cup finals!
Federica Brignone (ITA) leads with 384 points, ahead of Cornelia Hütter (AUT) with 368 points and Sofia Goggia (ITA) with 350 points.
Hütter needs to make up 16 points on Brignone, while Goggia needs to catch up 34 points on Brignone and 18 points on Hütter to be crowned the best female downhill skier of the season.
Super-G
In the Super-G, only one decision will be made at the Ski World Cup Final 2025 in Sun Valley.
In the men’s event, Marco Odermatt has dominated this discipline – he has won three of seven races.
The Swiss superstar will arrive at the Sun Valley World Cup 2025 with a total of 491 points. His closest pursuer is Austria’s Vincent Kriechmayr with 291 points.
More excitement is promised by the women’s super-G at this year’s season finale. It is a duel between Federica Brignone and Lara Gut-Behrami. The Italian is leading the Swiss by only 5 points (!).

giant slalom
In the men’s giant slalom, too, the 2025 Sun Valley World Cup is only about the last race victory.
Odermatt has won the Giant Slalom World Cup early. He has 500 points, with Henrik Kristoffersen (NOR) in second place with 394 points.
In the women’s Giant Slalom, there will be a duel for the World Cup title at the Ski World Cup Final between New Zealander Alice Robinson and Federica Brignone. Robinson leads by 20 points ahead of the last and decisive race.
If Brignone wins the Giant Slalom at the Sun Valley World Cup 2025 and Robinson comes in second, then both would have the same number of points. In that case, the better results would count and here the Italian would be clearly ahead with more victories (5 compared to 1).
Slalom
The last decisions at the Ski World Cup Final 2025 program are scheduled for the slalom on March 27. Both races are still for the small crystal ball.
In the men’s event, there is a three-way battle between Henrik Kristoffersen, Loic Meillard and Clement Noel.
Kristoffersen (NOR) leads the slalom World Cup with 612 points, Meillard (SUI) comes second, 47 points behind, going into the season finale. Noel (FRA) has 86 points to catch up.
In the women’s event, there is theoretically even a four-way battle for the slalom crystal in the last Sun Valley World Cup race.
With 515 points, Zrinka Ljutic (CRO) also leads the slalom standings. Camille Rast is currently in second place with 474 points. In third place is Austria’s Katharina Liensberger (464). And Wendy Holdener (SUI) also has a theoretical chance of winning the slalom world cup, although she is 96 points behind Ljutic.
