Champions League Quali, 2nd round, second leg, Tuesday, 30.07.2024 at 19:00
The UEFA Champions League qualifiers are slowly entering the hot phase. The second legs of the second round are coming up.
Rudi and Rovers face each other there on Tuesday evening. The Czechs won the first leg a week ago with a clear 2-0 victory.
Will it be such a one-sided game again this time? In any case, my Sparta Prague Shamrock betting tip is that the home side will have the advantage
Last season, Železná Sparta achieved something special. Not only were they able to defend their championship title. They also won the Czech Cup.
With the double behind them, they are now set to do the same at international level. The golden city is longing for nights in the top flight again
The last time they reached the group stage of the Champions League was in the 2005/06 season. Since then, however, they have been involved in the Europa or Conference League.
The foundations have already been laid for them to reach it again. If they progress, they will face either Tel Aviv or Bucharest in the next round.
The mood among the visitors is, shall we say, complicated at the moment. The reigning champions of Ireland are in a bit of a sporting crisis.
There will definitely be no title defense. After 23 matchdays, Rovers are in fifth place, 13 points behind leaders Shellbourne
They were also knocked out of the cup recently against local rivals Bohemian FC from Dublin. An elimination in the CL qualifiers would only fit into the picture.
And the chances of the Irish pulling off a miracle and progressing are slim. At Betano Sportwetten, the odds for Rovers to progress in the Sparta Prague Shamrock betting tip are over 37.0.
And of course the Champions League is not the benchmark for the Irish. Two years ago, they reached the group stage of the UEFA Conference League.
Presumably that will be their main goal again this time. The main thing is to somehow be represented internationally. But will they succeed?
Coach Stephen Bradley’s men have struggled away from home recently. In the previous round in Reykjavik, they only drew 0-0 in the first leg.
This means that Rovers have now gone three away games without scoring. The predictions are not particularly good that this will change.
The top bookmakers at Sunmaker offer odds of around 1.70 for your Sparta Prague Shamrock bet if the Irish fail to score again
What can we expect offensively from the home side? This season, they seem to have lost none of their form from the previous season.
As recently as Saturday, they recorded a commanding 4:1 victory against Teplice. Strikingly, they scored all four goals after the break
In case of doubt, the Rudí could certainly go one better. But will the majority of their goals again come in the second half?
At least the bookmakers at Bwin are optimistic in their Sparta Prague Shamrock betting tip. They are predicting odds of around 2.00.
I’m not saying that the visitors don’t have a chance here. After all, they are the reigning Irish champions for a reason.
But the home side are in very good form at the moment, while Shamrock’s form curve is clearly pointing downwards. It could therefore be one-sided, as in the first leg.
My Sparta Prague Shamrock tip is therefore: The Rudí win both halves!
