PSG celebrated their first championship in 1986. Eight years later, the club from the French capital lifted the trophy for the second time.
Meanwhile, the title in the French Ligue 1 is no longer a surprise for Les Parisiens, but comparable to the way to work – just normal.
However, it is still something special when a team can clinch the championship as early as match day 27. This could happen if the defending champions face a team from the bottom of the table. As the only team in the top French football league, PSG is still unbeaten after 26 matchdays (21W, 5D).

When visiting St. Etienne, the odds for the league leaders to win are not even close to the 1.20 mark.
In contrast, the home side’s win odds have skyrocketed, easily breaking through the 15.0 barrier. A win for Luis Enrique and his team is only suitable for a bet if it is placed in combination with another tip.
Before I decided on the St. Etienne PSG tip, I went through several variants. First of all, the considerations were based on “PSG over 3.5 goals”.
The league leaders have scored by far the most expected goals (70. xG) in the French top flight and face the most vulnerable expected back line in Ligue 1 (58.0 xGA).
However, I didn’t feel really comfortable with this option. Les Verts have recently conceded fewer than four goals in four of five league games, even scoring in two of three games.
In addition, the promoted team already drew the champions in a close game (1-2) in the first half of the season.
However, simply betting on “both teams to score” is not enough for me. Nevertheless, I can recommend the odds of 1.78 at Winamax to the more conservative tipsters among you.
St. Etienne made a change of coach in the winter and Eirik Horneland has been in charge for ten league games.
Under the Norwegian’s leadership, the results have not necessarily improved (1W, 4D, 5L), but at least the Greens have been able to score at least one goal in nine out of ten games.
In addition, PSG’s players tend to be a little too casual in their duels at times. As a result, 11 of PSG’s last 12 matches have included goals on both sides.
Nevertheless, the league leaders have celebrated seven wins in a row recently and should also emerge victorious against the 16th-placed team thanks to their clear individual advantages on the field.

The hosts are the only Ligue 1 team to have conceded more than ten penalties (14). With such dribbling talents in their squad as PSG have, another penalty against the home side would no longer be a surprise.
The only chance for St. Etienne could be that PSG is too careless with their own big chances. The league leaders had the most of those (142), but they also missed more than any other Ligue 1 team (87).
In addition, you should not completely ignore the soft factor of the international break. Many of the guests’ professionals were on the international stage last week.
PSG can wrap up the league title with a win and the right results in the other Ligue 1 matches with seven matchdays remaining.
Only in 2015/2016 did a team – also PSG, of course – win the title in France even earlier. However, I expect goals on both sides, as the development of the hosts is quite positive.
