St. Gallen – Grasshoppers betting tip, prediction & odds 11.08.2024

Super League, Sunday, 11.08.2024 at 14:15

The champions stumble, the competition lurks! Young Boys Bern are no longer managing anything in the Swiss Super League, making St. Gallen’s desire to play their way to the top with consistently good results all the greater.

The last time the Green-Whites were synonymous with spectacle, now it’s all about getting everything back on track. In my St. Gallen Grasshoppers tip, I’ll tell you what to expect from the home side and why I’m backing another three-pointer

Admittedly, we’re still at the very beginning of the season, but it’s still worth taking a first look at the form curves of the Swiss teams, especially because the best team is actually stumbling completely.

Young Boys from Bern have just a single point to their name after four rounds. Of course, this opens up opportunities for all other clubs to finish high up the table at the start of the season

FC St. Gallen finished fourth last season, with three narrow 2:1 wins from the first seven rounds; a year ago, things got off to a relatively mixed start. How are things looking this time?

The 0:1 against FC Winterthur was of course not particularly successful, but at least the team showed morale immediately afterwards, scoring a brilliant 4:0 against Young Boys

0:1 and 4:0, the two results couldn’t have been more different. And St. Gallen obviously like being classified as unpredictable, because the next curious result came on matchday number three.

They won 4:3 against Lausanne! The comfortable 4:1 lead was almost squandered in the end, but with eight goals from the past two games, the offense can of course be more than satisfied

The team scored just once in the first 15 matchdays of last season. The one or other defensive lover among you may now pause and realize: That’s possible again in 2024/25!

The next few games would have to see a lot of goals conceded. Not that I’d wish that on the team, because they themselves will of course be hoping for an improvement in performance compared to the previous season

FC St. Gallen have already had to announce the departure of a few good players during the summer break, with Fabian Schubert and Julian von Moos from the attacking department leaving the club. Eight goals from the last two matches, has a replacement apparently already been found?

Enrico Maaßen, formerly of FC Augsburg, is in charge of the team. Konrad Faber from Regensburg is a strong new signing, Stephan Ambrosius, Noah Yannick and Kevin Csoboth are also new

It is definitely interesting to note that four of the last five duels against the Grasshoppers from Zurich have ended without a winner. In addition, there have always been goals on both sides since eight of them.

There has only been one home defeat since August 2015, which is also a strong figure. It is therefore definitely understandable that the bookmakers are offering odds of 1.65 to 4.60, meaning St. Gallen are clearly ahead.

What could make you bet on the visitors in the Bet365 app anyway? It can’t really be the current form. It started with a 1:2 against Lugano, followed by a 2:2 against Luzern

Extremely unfortunate results, because: Once they conceded an equalizer in stoppage time, the other in the 85th minute. Obviously, this really affected the players, as they recently went down 3-0 to FC Basel.

Seven goals conceded, always at least two – this was not how the defense had imagined the start of the new season. No clean sheets in 14 of the first 15 matches? What I found out about St. Gallen in 2023/24 also applies to Grasshoppers!

Is FC St. Gallen currently playing themselves into an offensive frenzy? After the two victories, which brought eight goals, the players are really looking forward to the home game against the Grasshoppers, also from a historical point of view.

They’ve never lost at home to this opponent before, and on top of that, Zurich are out of form, rarely score and concede far too many goals, never less than two.

All of this means that I prefer a single bet for this match. One that refers to the favorite and reads as follows:

St. Gallen win against the Grasshoppers!
