Ligue 1 Matchday 32, Saturday, 03.05.2025 at 17:00
The championship has long been secured, but the big goal for the season is something else entirely. The question must be asked: Is Paris St. Germain slowly coasting through this Ligue 1 season? Are they even engaging in a little competitive distortion?
In my Strasbourg PSG prediction, I’m now looking at the league leaders, who are under no pressure whatsoever. However, as the home side are in incredible form, I’m clearly leaning towards the double chance 1X – and that in a match in which PSG are the slight underdogs anyway!
PSG can lose – somehow reassuring. Last weekend, they suffered a 1-3 defeat against Nice. It was a defeat that the stars couldn’t care less about, for two reasons.
They have already secured the championship, so they can now rethink their priorities. The Henkelpott has enjoyed the highest status in Paris for years. In the first leg of the semi-final, Paris played at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday.
They secured a 1-0 win at Arsenal, putting them in a strong position for the second leg, which is just a few days away. And now the crucial question: will PSG even play at the weekend, given that the most important game of the year is coming up shortly afterwards?
Okay, that may have been a slight exaggeration, but this 1-3 defeat against Nice is of course also a result of the Champions League. Previously, they had played out a 1-1 draw against Nantes – surely the champions won’t go three games in a row without a win?
It would be the first time this season, at least. Although PSG has the best defense in the league with 31 goals conceded, it has managed to keep a clean sheet relatively rarely, with seven shutouts.
In London, Ousmane Dembele, who is having a really strong season, was the decisive player. In the league, he has not scored in four games, which is quite noticeable. He has never had a longer dry spell in 2024/25.
In terms of a goal bet, the Frenchman is listed at 2.40 on Winamax. But I would be cautious here. The reason is simple: I can well imagine that Dembele won’t even be used, but will be rested for next Wednesday.
Away from home, Paris conceded four goals before the break and twelve after it. In that respect, I see good chances for the bet “Strasbourg to score in the second half,” which is available at Bwin at odds of 1.52.
As a new customer, you should definitely use the Bwin voucher code to secure a double deposit. If you take a quick look at the history, you will of course see immediately that Strasbourg is by no means a formidable opponent.
Since 2005, they have lost only once, with Paris winning eight of the last ten games. However, there is one small “but.” With 2-1, 1-1, and 3-3, a total of three wins from their last seven away games, the stars are struggling more than expected on the road.
Since 2005, Strasbourg has always scored at home in this fixture, so “BTS” only brings you odds of 1.45. Speaking of odds, I mentioned at the beginning that Paris is the underdog on Saturday.
We don’t see it often in Ligue 1, but with average odds of 2.45 to 2.55, it is actually the opponent who has the slight edge. And in my opinion, that’s not just because of the visitors’ double burden.
Racing Strasbourg is in really good form, losing only one of its last 18 (!) games! Even the 0-1 defeat to Rennes was unnecessary, coming about through a goal conceded shortly before the end.
Strasbourg are currently “only” seventh, but are only four points behind second place. This impressively shows how close it is behind PSG. Above all, their own stadium is ensuring that Racing are being swept so far forward.
The Blue and Whites have lost only once at home, a 1-3 defeat to Monaco in early November. In recent months, several top teams have failed to put Strasbourg in their place.
They drew against Monaco and Nice, beat Lyon 4-2, and the 1-1 draw against Marseille and 2-1 win against Lille were also encouraging results. Emanuel Emegha is a really strong player in attack.
The center forward has already scored eleven times this year, finding the net against Marseille, Lille, Lyon, and Nice. No question, he’s my number one for a goal bet. The Winamax odds are an efficient 2.60.
There’s no question in my mind that Paris St. Germain won’t be going all out on Saturday. The champions are likely to focus on the Champions League, which in turn suits Strasbourg.
But even if PSG still had something to play for in Ligue 1, I wouldn’t write Racing off. The last few months have been incredible, and the Blue and Whites have only lost once at home.
That’s why, considering all the facts, I quickly decided to make the following prediction:
Strasbourg will score against Paris!
