Ice hockey World Cup quarter-final, Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 4:20 p.m.
I cleverly used the VBET promo code to fuel a Switzerland Austria tip that, in my opinion, has excellent chances of success.
Austria is playing much better than a team that is only thinking about staying in the league. In fact, it is no coincidence that the strong offense catapulted the red-white-reds into the quarterfinals.
What a story the Austrians are writing at this World Cup! While there were doubts at the beginning of the tournament as to whether they would be able to stay in the competition, it is now clear that this is more than just a nice run by an underdog.
Austria is in the quarter-finals, and deservedly so.
Even in their first two games against Finland (1-2) and Sweden (2-4), they didn’t look like a team destined for relegation. Bader’s squad played like a team that believes in itself, that fights, that isn’t intimidated by big names.
And that’s exactly what happened in the games that followed. Four wins from their last five World Cup games speak for themselves, including impressive victories such as the 6-1 win against Latvia and the 5-2 win against France.
As expected, there was nothing to be gained against Canada. But even then, they at least kept the scoreboard reasonably close.
So now it’s Switzerland against Austria. On paper, it’s a clear-cut affair: the Swiss not only impressed in the group stage, they caused a real sensation.
The 10-0 win against Hungary was a demonstration of a kind rarely seen at this level.
And of course, it’s striking that Switzerland is a well-rehearsed team with a lot of quality and also has Sven Andrighetto, a player who is currently dominating the tournament.
He has already scored seven goals, more than anyone else. He’s a real candidate for a goal bet, bringing a certain basic threat to every game, no matter who the opponent is.
But here’s the thing: even though Switzerland is the rightful favorite here, it won’t be a walk in the park. The Austrians have developed a real sense of self-confidence.
The players seem solid, they fight hard, they play with emotion and, now, they’re also showing some skill. And most importantly, they’ve scored in every World Championship game so far – and that’s no coincidence.
Against Canada, against Finland, against Sweden – they’ve always found the back of the net at least once.
This basic offensive play, paired with a certain boldness in their forward play, makes the team extremely dangerous, especially when they’re underestimated.
Apart from the betting companies with PayPal, no one believes that Austria stands a chance against Switzerland.
Incidentally, the last World Cup match between these two nations also speaks volumes: in 2024 in the Czech Republic, Switzerland won 6-5 – a spectacular game that perfectly reflects what we can expect this time around.
It will be a game in which Switzerland will show its quality, but Austria will hold its own, seize its moments and not go down without scoring.
A 4-2, a 5-3 or even a narrow 3-2 win for Switzerland – all of these scenarios are entirely realistic. What do they have in common? Both teams will score multiple goals.
And that brings us to some potentially worthwhile bets: The “Both teams to score – Yes” tip is by far the most interesting option here.
The odds are around 1.25, which is low but still promising given Austria’s high-scoring tournament so far.
Alternatively, you could consider a combination bet with “Switzerland to win with HC -1 & both teams to score,” which offers odds of over 1.50 but is a little riskier.
For the more conservative option, the goal bet remains the first choice, especially given the offensive power of both teams.
If you want to take a real risk, you could also consider over 6.5 goals, as it looks like there will be plenty of goals again.
The Swiss have scored at least five goals in five of their seven group games, and Austria will have to play openly anyway.
My conclusion: Switzerland will probably prevail in the end, but don’t underestimate the red-white-and-blue fighters. They will also score in this quarter-final.
My Switzerland Austria tip is therefore: Yes, the Swiss will reach the semi-finals, but they will concede at least two goals in regular time in what will be a heated ice hockey battle.
My tip: Austria over 1.5 goals
