Tennis Tips today – Matches today 07.10.
The weather is still not playing ball in Shanghai. Some matches have now even had to be postponed for two days. Only the matches on the Center Court, the stadium with a roof, could be played.
Among others, Daniil Medvedev and Jannik Sinner have made it through to the round of 16 after starting slowly. However, they do not yet know who they will face in the round of 16. Alexander Zverev is also still waiting to see who his opponent will be, but for the round of 16.
Many players will therefore have to play twice in one day. First of all, all the catch-up matches are scheduled for Monday, which I will discuss in our tennis tips of the day.

The good news first: dry and warm conditions have been reported for Shanghai for almost the entire week. The bad news is that on Monday it still looks bleak. At least the chance of rain will decrease towards the afternoon, so there should be tennis action outside the stadium as well.
In any case, there are some interesting matches at the start of the week. Berrettini against Rune, a game that the bookmakers expect to be evenly matched. As far as I’m concerned, the two stars belong to the world elite in top form and the first encounters were real tennis treats.
Gael Monfils will look to assert himself against his younger compatriot Ugo Humbert. Breaks are also likely to be in short supply in this duel. Does a tiebreak bet make sense here? More on this in the individual analysis.
Lorenzo Musetti is not clearly favored by the sports betting providers. However, the Winamax sports betting community has settled on a clear player here. There is definitely value here. I also have a strong bet in mind for Flavio Cobolli against the icon Stan Wawrinka.

Tennis Tips today 07.10.: Monfils – Humbert (06:00 am)
Ugo Humbert is currently facing many other French players on the Asian tour. In the final of Tokyo, he was still leading in sets against Arthur Fils. He then easily beat his namesake Cazaux in the first round of Shanghai.
He is also ahead on the odds against Monfils. However, the 39-year-old has a strong serve and the fast conditions in the Chinese metropolis suit him well. In the long rallies, though, I see Humbert ahead. The sets should take longer.

Tennis Betting today 07.10.: Cobolli – Wawrinka (2:00 p.m.)
Italy currently has many strong tennis players on the tour, and Cobolli has also played his way into the spotlight this year. He is ranked 30th and has won 25 of 37 hard court matches. With Daniil Medvedev and Hubert Hurkacz, he was only recently held back by the world’s elite.
Wawrinka is in the late autumn of his career and has hardly been able to make an impact recently. Every now and then he won a first round match, but last time he made it to the third round was at the US Open 2023. He is facing Cobolli for the first time, and I am convinced that he will have to continue waiting for a third round appearance in 2024.

Tennis Betting today 07.10.: Musetti – Goffin (07:30)
Musetti against Goffin, we have already seen this match this year, albeit at a lower level and on clay, at the Challenger Tournament in Turin in May. A clear victory in two sets for the Italian, who is having his best year of tennis so far, including winning the bronze medal at the Olympic Games.
He is not quite as strong on hard courts as he is on red clay. Goffin’s overall record is better. In terms of play, however, I see him at a clear disadvantage against the counter-attacking and returning Musetti, who has burst into the top 20. Goffin has not yet been able to convince against the top players this year.

Tennis Betting today 07.10.: Tsitsipas – Muller (06:00)
On clay, he was able to partially build on his strong performances, but overall Tsitsipas continues to struggle with consistency. In New York, Montreal and Tokyo, he was knocked out right at the start of the tournament, but at the Shanghai Masters he at least overcame the opening hurdle against Kei Nishikore.
However, Alexandre Muller is an unpleasant opponent, having already beaten Andrey Rublev this year and knocked Felix Auger-Aliassime out of the field in Shanghai. This duel is likely to last a little longer.
