Caleb Williams was the first quarterback drafted in the 2024 draft – and as the overall number 1 pick. Williams was selected by the Chicago Bears, who also secured their NFL starting quarterback.
In Chicago, the rookie is already dreaming of the big time, i.e. the Super Bowl. However, the last few years have shown that new quarterbacks don’t always have it easy in their first season. Especially not with teams that have recently been at the bottom of the table.
The second rookie of the two 2024 NFL starting quarterbacks is Jayden Daniels. He was drafted at number 2 in the draft – by the Washington Commanders.
Interesting: Drake Maye, the No. 3 pick in April’s NFL Draft and selected by the New England Patriots, is among the 2024 NFL quarterbacks – but not as a starter. The Pats are apparently banking more on Jacoby Brisett, who in turn came from Commanders.
The Denver Broncos, on the other hand, are bringing in a rookie at the playmaker position this season with Bo Nix, who was drafted at number 12 in the draft
Which NFL starting quarterbacks are still new in 2024?
Compared to last season, there have been some changes to the NFL quarterbacks in 2024, not only through the draft but also through trades.
The most spectacular move was that of Kirk Cousins from the Minnesota Vikings to the Atlanta Falcons. Cousins played for the Vikings from 2018 to 2023 and wants to fulfill his dream of playing in the Super Bowl by moving to Atlanta.
What did the Vikings do at the playmaker position?
They took JJ McCarthy in the draft, but the youngster is not listed among the 2024 NFL starting quarterbacks because he was injured in preseason and will miss the entire season.
Therefore, Sam Darnold is now the new quarterback of the purple Vikings. Darnold was the backup to Brock Purdy in the preseason with the SF 49ers.
A second NFL starting quarterback change within two teams took place with Russell Wilson. The playmaker moved from the Denver Broncos, where he had only disappointed for two years, to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Under Wilson, the Broncos’ offense was one of the worst in the league, winning only 11 of 30 games with him as starter and losing 19.
The Las Vegas Raiders have also made a change to their NFL quarterbacks: Gardner Minshew is now the playmaker for the team from the gambling metropolis.
Aaron Rodgers also somehow passes for a new signing. The veteran came to the New York Jets before last season, but was injured in Game 1 and missed the entire season. Now he will be back with the Jets among the NFL starting quarterbacks in 2024.
