All info on the Conor McGregor UFC comeback 2025
At UFC 264 in July 2021, Conor McGregor broke his leg in a fight against Dustin Poirier shortly before the end of the first round. The fight was lost. This defeat should not mean the end of his career, so “The Notorious” does not want to retire. That’s why he’s returning to the cage!
The date for the Conor McGregor comeback should have been June 29, 2024. He wanted to step into the cage against Michael Chandler at UFC 303.
But as we know, nothing came of it. Conor McGregor had to cancel due to injury. McGregor said in an Instagram post that it was “very tough to be ruled out of my planned rematch. The decision to postpone the fight was not made lightly, but in consultation with my doctors, the UFC and my team.”
It has not yet been announced when the McGregor vs. Chandler comeback fight will take place. However, it could finally be in 2025.
Here you can find all the latest information on the Conor McGregor Comeback 2025 – with date, location and broadcast!
Figures for the McGregor Comeback 2025
Date & Time: When is the Conor McGregor Comeback 2025?
Back at the beginning of 2022, there was always speculation that McGregor could return to the cage in 2022. But nothing came of it. Other McGregor comeback dates were also repeatedly mentioned, but ultimately nothing materialized – until now!
The date for Conor McGregor’s comeback is June 29, 2024.
Conor McGregor had already announced this himself on his X channel (formerly Twitter) on December 31:
“Ladies and gentlemen, happy new year to you all,” said McGregor. “I would like to announce the date for my return, the ‘Notorious’ Conor McGregor, the greatest comeback of all time will be in Las Vegas for International Fight Week, June 29th… and the opponent, Michael Chandler. And the weight, Mr. Chandler, 185 pounds.”
On June 14 during the UC 300 press conference, UFC President Dana White himself announced the 2024 McGregor comeback.
Where will the 2025 McGregor comeback take place?
UFC 303 with the big Conor McGregor comeback was scheduled to take place in Las Vegas, at the T-Mobile Arena. It remains to be seen whether McGregor’s cage comeback is also planned for 2025 in the gambling metropolis.
It is also possible that Saudi Arabia will be the venue for McGregor’s comeback. The Saudis have already secured a number of high-profile boxing fights in recent years – and there are probably few bigger combat sports events than Conor McGregor’s comeback in 2025…

Who’s broadcasting McGregor’s comeback live?
When a giant fighter like Conor McGregor makes his cage comeback after a two-year (injury) break, there will be a live broadcast. But who will broadcast the McGregor comeback live in 2025?
DAZN has the rights to UFC fights worldwide. All UFC events in Germany and Austria are also broadcast on DAZN. If the Irishman appears in a UFC event, the Conor McGregor Comeback 2025 will be broadcast live on DAZN.
This requires a monthly subscription to the sports streamer. This subscription includes UFC broadcasts.
In the USA, things look a little different. Here, the big fights are shown as PPV events. This means that fans have to buy a special “ticket” to be able to watch the fight in question. And these tickets for McGregor fights are usually very expensive.
The Conor McGregor comeback 2025: Who is his opponent?
Who will “The Notorious” step into the cage against in his UFC comeback 2025, and who will the next McGregor fight be against?
The list of potential comeback opponents for McGregor was long and prominent. In recent months, names such as Nate Diaz, Michael Chandler, Dustin Poirier, Justin Gaethje and Islam Makhachev have been mentioned time and again.
Michael Chandler has been chosen as the opponent for the McGregor comeback!
The US-American, who had an epic fight against Justin Gaethje at UFC 268, brought himself into play as an option for the McGregor comeback. McGregor had also appeared on the reality TV series The Ultimate Fighter, in which two teams duel for a place in the UFC, together with Chandler as a trainer in front of the camera.
Chandler promptly responded to the invitation to duel…
McGregor vs. Chandler – who’s the favorite?
Will the McGregor comeback 2025 be the big win or the next disappointment for the MMA loudmouth? That’s the big question!
Conor McGregor has lost three of his last four UFC fights. Most recently, he had to leave the Octagon as a loser twice against Dustin Poirier. However, Michael Chandler is not a serial winner either – on the contrary. The US-American has also lost three of his last four cage appearances.
In the McGregor vs. Chandler betting odds, which were created when the comeback was scheduled for June 2024, the Irishman was seen as a slight favorite.
McGregor comeback: Is his time over – pros & cons?
If the Conor McGregor comeback will take place in 2024, then everything will revolve around one question: Is his time over or is he still one of the best cage fighters of the present?
Whether you like him or not, Conor McGregor is an icon of MMA – the now 35-year-old Irishman popularized cage fighting worldwide and was one of the best in his field. McGregor even held the title in two weight classes at the same time.
He was even the highest-earning athlete in the world in 2021. And yet MMA fans are divided: How good is McGregor anymore?

Pro: His big time is over
“Rest in peace, career of Conor McGregor,” tweeted Logan Paul, the boxing YouTuber, after McGregor’s loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.
It was the second defeat in a row for the once invincible “Notorious”. His most recent UFC record looks like this: Three losses in four fights, two of them in a row for the first time ever.
For many UFC experts, McGregor’s heyday is therefore over. He was a great champion, but that was a long time ago. That was 2015 and 2016.
Since his foray into the boxing ring – against Floyd Mayweather in 2017 – and since he became a global sports star, one of the richest to boot, who can decide where to fly to on his private jet every day, his focus is no longer 100 percent on the strenuous and complicated sport of MMA.
But that’s what it would take to keep the other up-and-coming and success-hungry cage gladiators in check. The last fights against Poirier have shown: McGregor is vulnerable and no longer as feared as he once was.
In the fight in July, shortly before the leg break, McGregor showed his class several times in the first and only round, but was also on the verge of another regular knockout defeat when Poirier countered a guillotine choke and bloodied his opponent with heavy blows.
And then there’s the issue ahead of McGregor’s comeback in 2024: how fit is his leg, how robust is his psyche after two consecutive defeats and a three-year break from competition, all in the knowledge that the next loss could end his UFC career for good?

Contra: McGregor is still one of the best
When McGregor is fit and confident, there is no better striker in this lightweight division. He has the exceptional feel for distance when standing. It’s that one-punch knockout power combined with precision that is so dangerous.
“He is very dangerous in the early rounds when he is explosive and still has full power at his disposal. McGregor’s hand-eye coordination is unique. When he’s standing, he’s simply magic,” says DAZN commentator and MMA expert Sebastian Hackl.
A look at McGregor’s statistics also shows this: of his 22 victories, he has won 19 by knockout – and 14 of these were in the first round.
Although he recently suffered two defeats against Dustin Poirier, he can still pose a threat to any opponent in the lightweight division with his still existing speed.
He also has the irrepressible will to prove it again to all his critics and (cage) foes
