Turkey Portugal betting tip & the best odds for the 2nd matchday of Group F
The 2024 European Championship is going from strength to strength, including in Group F, where two favorites meet two outsiders! I’m looking at exactly these two favorites today in my Turkey Portugal betting tip.
Both teams started with three points, but have had some luck and shown that not everything is running smoothly yet. In a direct duel in a few hours’ time, the aim is to qualify for the round of 16 ahead of time.
Exactly what to expect from the Turks is once again somewhat unclear. After their weak preparation, it is only logical that the Reds cannot be favored against Portugal – an absolute European Championship team.
This is also reflected in our Turkey Portugal odds, which see the opponents led by the ageing but still indispensable Cristiano Ronaldo clearly ahead.
With average odds of 1.60 to 5.90, they suggest that the Portuguese will be cheering in Dortmund at the end. Historically, Turkey is a favorite opponent for the Selecao anyway, but more on that later.
In my Turkey-Portugal prediction, I will now explain in detail why I don’t think either team has really consolidated yet and why I am therefore against a longshot.
I’m leaning towards the following bet: The 2.5 goals will be exceeded!
To give you a little foretaste of the spectacle I’m expecting: In their 3-1 win over Georgia, the Turks fired 20 shots at their opponents’ goal – more than any other team on matchday 1.
Turkey – Portugal prediction by the bookmakers
Seven out of nine direct duels have gone to Portugal, that much I can reveal about the direct comparison. This fact certainly also contributes to the fact that there is a clear favorite with our European Championship betting providers and a Portuguese victory only has odds of 1.60.
On the other hand, Turkey is of course a walking miracle bag. It has been less consistent in 2024, so it should come as no surprise that the odds for a win against Portugal are sometimes even close to the 6.00 mark.
Turkey could of course live with a draw much better than Portugal, which would also be the first draw ever in a direct comparison. Should the points actually be shared, you could pick up average Turkey Portugal odds of around 4.25.
Turkey vs Portugal odds: Where are the highest Turkey vs Portugal odds?
What Portugal Turkey odds boosts have our bookmakers come up with for this match? First of all, I look to Bwin, where one particular player, Hakan Calhanoglu, is at the center of the betting.
Should he score, you’ll be rewarded with odds of 6.75. I’m sticking with Turkey, because they are definitely the better bets to get boosted. Who believes that the Red and Whites will win? Opponents Portugal didn’t look so good against the Czech Republic!
If the double chance ends up being correct, Oddset will give you odds of 2.55 for the 1X. And I also dare to take a look at NeoBet, for the real optimists among you.
A win for Turkey and more than 2.5 goals at the same time? If you believe in it, you have a really high chance of winning with Turkey Portugal odds of 9.70!
Analysis: Turkey vs Portugal
Finally the European Championship again! The Portuguese national team must have traveled to Germany with great anticipation, as this is their favorite competition ever.
If they qualify, they have never been eliminated in the preliminary round, and the proud soccer nation has only been eliminated three times before the semi-finals. But don’t forget: 2021 was their worst performance to date, losing to Belgium in the round of 16.
Nevertheless, it seems almost impossible that the Portuguese will have to go home early in Group F.
Their opponents: the Czech Republic, Turkey and Georgia. The game against the Czechs kicked off on Tuesday
And not in a good way, as Portugal fell behind against the underdogs! The star ensemble appeared uninspired and were lucky to concede an own goal just a few minutes after going 1-0 down.
Just when it looked as though the game was going to end 1:1, Francisco Conceicao struck in the 90th minute. However, more than a few were of the opinion afterwards that this attack had been preceded by a foul
Of course, Portugal didn’t care about the points, but it also became clear that the team has its weaknesses. One of them, as the whole of 2024 shows, is in defense.
Nine goals conceded in six games, four times two apiece, is too much for the highly praised nation. Nevertheless, 15 goals scored by the team itself, although there was also one match without any goals, is of course very strong on the other hand
Quota analysis
In fact, with regard to the 1×2 bets on the Turkey Portugal odds, I would go for a draw. Portugal were very unlucky against the Czech Republic, conceding a number of goals in 2024. The odds of over 4.00 are worthwhile anyway.
Furthermore, I believe that it is precisely these goals conceded (nine in 2024) that will make it possible for Turkey to score offensively and that you will therefore do well with the “BTS” at odds of 1.70.
At Bet365, the collected Turkey Portugal tips, including my general betting recommendation, also lead me to a genuine result bet. I therefore say: A 2:2 at odds of 17.0 is realistic!
Turkey vs Portugal odds: Portugal “historically” the favorite
Turkey is the clear favorite against Turkey, as the Turkey Portugal odds have impressively shown. The two teams already crossed paths at the European Championships in 1996, 2000 and 2008, always with the same outcome.
1:0 in the group stage, 2:0 in the quarter-finals and 2:0 again in the preliminary round – the Portuguese won all their European Championship matches against Turkey without conceding a goal! Is that realistic again this time?
With our top provider Betano you would receive odds of 3.10 for this bet, if the risk is too high for you, simply bet with the help of a free bet. At Betano, a €20 bet without a deposit is possible if you use the code BONUSVIP
How strong is Turkey really?
Will the Turkey Portugal tip be a one-way street? The Selecao have lost all of their previous head-to-head ties, with their only two defeats coming in test matches in 1955 and 2012. Historically speaking, these are not the best conditions for the Turks.
They started the tournament with a match against Georgia, undisputedly the easiest opponent in Group E. The newcomers put up a brave fight, but in the end the favorites collected a 3:1 win.
Despite their numerical superiority, the decisive 3:1 was only scored in the last minute of stoppage time, and the players are probably aware that they will need a completely different performance against Portugal.
At least they won, which was probably not a given after the weak preparation. Austria had suffered a 1:6 thrashing against Poland (1:2) and Hungary (0:1) also lost.
Only the 0-0 draw against Italy was reasonably friendly. The last time Turkey failed to reach the preliminary round of the European Championship was twice in a row, but each time they lost their first group game.
That is exactly what has not happened now, so the pressure is much less ahead of match number two. Of course, it helps the Turks immensely that it must feel like it’s a home European Championship
Tens of thousands of Turkish fans flock to the stadiums, and Saturday should be no different. Essential for the Turkey Portugal tip: Will there be any changes from a personnel point of view at the weekend?
Mert Müldür was substituted with a knock in the closing stages, but there is hope that he will play against CR7 and Co. Müldür was the scorer of the 1-0 against Georgia, so he is certainly not unimportant
My Turkey Portugal tip:
Can the Portuguese be annoyed again? Cristiano Ronaldo and his colleagues certainly didn’t cover themselves in glory in their European Championship opener, winning more than luckily against the Czech Republic.
Defensively, the weaknesses have been evident all year. On the other hand, Turkey did not escape without conceding a goal against underdog Georgia, the 3:1 was closer than it sounds.
For the direct duel between the two favorites in Group F, I have therefore decided to bet on an entertaining match, which suits both of them wonderfully. And that’s why my Turkey Portugal prediction is:
The 2.5 goals will be surpassed!
