Bundesliga 20th matchday, Saturday, 01/02/2025 at 3:30 pm
Out of the Champions League – that’s something you have to digest first! VfB Stuttgart were finally able to get a taste of international air again, but were unable to secure a place in the playoffs. So it’s clear: a defeat in the Bundesliga at the weekend would add insult to injury.
The Swabians are facing a home game, and after the recent defeat against Mainz, they need to get back on track.
In my VfB Stuttgart Gladbach betting tip, I will now tell you how I assess the chances of victory – at least enough to elicit the double chance 1X with an added BTS!
For this betting combo, I was presented with odds of 1.75 at Interwetten. With the Interwetten Freebet, this bookie offers you another lucrative feature.
For the first time since 2010/11, I will go into this in more detail later, VfB now has the opportunity to record their third win in a row against the Foals – it would be balm for the soul after the painful evening against Paris St. Germain!
The betting providers’ prediction?
Stuttgart are five points ahead of Gladbach. Not a huge gap, but it’s enough for our football betting providers to see the Swabians a good way ahead. If you want to bet on tip 1, you’ll find odds of around 1.57.
So the Gladbachers are clearly labeled as outsiders, with odds climbing well above 5.00. And this despite the fact that they have only lost once by a clear margin in Stuttgart since 2013 and all the other duels have been very, very close!
Since October 2005, there has only been one draw in this duel when it was played on Swabian soil! An eye-catching fact… But if you still want to take that risk on Saturday, you can do so at odds of around 4.50.
KI prediction VfB Stuttgart vs Gladbach: That’s what ChatGPT tips for it
How does ChatGPT deal with the fact that Stuttgart has to cope with the CL elimination? The AI may not (yet) be able to show us any great emotions, but it has again made me three tip suggestions.
The one that seems rather risky suggests a 2-1 result bet for VfB. If you’re looking for an outcome, this would be my first choice! Stuttgart have already won two home games this season in this way, and four of their last five home wins against the Foals have been by exactly one goal.
The “Over 3.5 goals” promises a medium risk. Basically, I think it’s absolutely realistic, after all, it was true in five of the last six direct duels. In addition, Gladbach’s eight goals came from the recent two away games.
But: Due to the CL elimination, VfB could be badly cracked, you should take that into account in your choice.
Analysis: VfB Stuttgart vs Gladbach
It was a very bitter evening for all who sympathize with VfB Stuttgart, one that showed the club its limits. After a mixed Champions League group stage, the European Cup is over, the 1-4 defeat to PSG meant the end of the road.
The good news is that the reigning vice-champion can now fully concentrate on the Bundesliga, where there are still some issues to be addressed. Although… a fourth place sounds quite respectable, doesn’t it?
Basically, I can’t disagree with that, but from this fourth place on, many teams are close together. After three wins in a row (1-0 in Augsburg, 2-1 against RB Leipzig and 4-0 against Freiburg), the series was interrupted last weekend.
In Mainz, they had to admit defeat 0:2, it was the fourth game this season without scoring. Actually, it should be back this weekend though, if I look at the results.
Odds Analysis
Gladbach have scored nine goals away from home, eight of them in the second half! I therefore think it makes sense to bet on the Foals achieving little in the first 45 minutes on Saturday. Interwetten offers you odds of 1.60 for this bet.
But: At the same time, Stuttgart have a history of falling behind 0-1 at half-time in their home games, and doing so five times already! So, contrary to the aforementioned bet, this special result bet is also possible for you.
The odds here rise quickly, and you can look forward to over 7.50! Tim Kleindienst? He’s always an option for a bet! Gladbach’s top scorer has scored twice in a row again recently, and if he does the same at the Neckar, you can get odds of 3.00 at Betano.
VfB Stuttgart vs Gladbach: Can the Swabians go for the win right from the start?
The Swabians have now lost five times, but after the first four defeats, there were three wins and one draw. The common factor in the home games was that there were always three of them: two goals were always scored!
The Swabians have never lost twice in a row in the league, which is definitely encouraging. At the same time, a win on Saturday would mean that it would be the first time that they have won three in a row at home.
The team would do well to go full throttle from the first minute. They have already scored eight points from behind, and against Leipzig and Union Berlin they even scored six points after trailing 1-0 at half-time.
After the CL exit, caution is advised!
Interesting fact: With the exception of the first home game in 2024/25 against Mainz, there have never been goals on both sides in a first half at the Neckar. After Stuttgart failed to score in half one five times in a row, they managed to score three times against Freiburg.
Unfortunately, there is now some bad news for all fans that will be difficult to digest: with Atakan Karazor and Jeff Chabot, two key players in the defense are out with suspensions!
Karazor’s absence in particular could have serious consequences. Since the 2020/21 promotion, VfB have scored 1.5 points on average with him – when he was missing, the rate dropped to 0.9! There’s no question that this suspension really hurts!
It sounds much better that the last three home games against Gladbach all ended in victory. The guests from the Lower Rhine know this, of course, but with a win on Saturday they could move very close to VfB.
In any case, Mönchengladbach has averted a poor start to the new year, at least for the time being. After the 0-1 defeat to FC Bayern, they were trounced 5-1 in Wolfsburg, and the 3-1 defeat to Leverkusen was not much more encouraging.
Most recently, there was a 3-0 win against Bochum, so they have now regained their form at home. At home, the VfL is among the top scorers, having already scored 21 goals. Unfortunately, however, I can’t find any positive statistics when the team is on the road.
Nine goals have been scored, only in Bochum and Hoffenheim, in the two victories, twice. In three of the last four away games, we have conceded at least three goals, but Tim Kleindienst has scored five times.
What makes the striker so special for match day 20? Perhaps the fact that he has scored three times in four Bundesliga games against VfB Stuttgart, albeit while still wearing the 1. FC Heidenheim shirt!
It’s actually quite simple for Gladbach: just take the lead and they should be fine! They haven’t dropped a single point while trailing, although Stuttgart are very good at scoring after conceding.
My VfB Stuttgart Gladbach tip:
Lost in the league against Mainz, lost in the premier class against PSG and knocked out – it was not VfB Stuttgart’s week! The Swabians want to make amends against Gladbach on Saturday and are backing their own stadium.
Recent history speaks in favor of the home side, as do Gladbach’s performances away from home. I’m taking a cautious approach and going for the double chance 1X. What can we expect from both defensive lines?
They are not among the best, and the last direct duels presented us with a few goals. I have therefore decided to combine two bets and say:
Stuttgart scores, both score!
