I can’t put it any other way: It’s an almost brutal battle for the title! Barca, Real and Atletico are separated by just one point at the top of the Primera Division, and the slightest mistake could end up being decisive.
The Whites travel to fifth-placed Real on Saturday, so the task could be easier. In my Villarreal Real Madrid betting tip, I’ll tell you why I’m taking an offensive approach here and betting on the “Both teams score & over 2.5 goals” combo.
It’s exactly what the neutral soccer fan loves! The Spanish league has been keeping us busy for months with a very tight race for the championship, and the top trio are currently making no attempt to change that.
Barca and Real Madrid are on 57 points, while Atletico have collected 56 points. However, the Whites know that they have not been convincing enough in recent weeks to be too sure of themselves.
They have won two of their last six games, losing twice in the process. It would be time for a real winning streak again; the last time they won two in a row was in January.
The slip-ups have all been away from home – so it’s probably not particularly advantageous that Real have to travel straight after the nerve-wracking Champions League round of 16 second leg against Atletico!
After the 2:1 first leg defeat, the team traveled to the Metropolitano in a tense mood and fell behind after just a few seconds. In the end, however, the visitors progressed in an incredibly crazy manner through a penalty shoot-out (including VAR!).
Real have now been winless in three away games in the league, scoring two goals and picking up just one point. I can even extend the negative phase: Two wins from the past seven away games? Not enough!
Especially when you also take into account that the three wins at Valencia and Real Valladolid were both at the bottom of the table at the time of the game.
That is certainly not the case for Villarreal, who go into this game in fifth place. The Whites won 2-0 in the first half of the season, but were also allowed to play at home.
The last results from the Ceramica in La Liga: 4:4, 1:2, 0:0, 1:1, 2:2, 2:2, 2:2 – what tight games! The draw reigns supreme in this clash, and you can certainly see that Real Madrid have been waiting to win a league game in Villarreal since February 2017.
You can therefore of course risk the draw, which is absolutely worthwhile not only at Interwetten with odds of 3.90. Here, the risk is also minimized directly, because you have a free bet at your disposal.
The general odds of victory, by the way, are an average of 2.00 to 3.30 from the visitors’ point of view. FC Villarreal should find it quite nice that their opponents have the Champions League in their bones.
The Yellow Submarine are five points behind fourth place and have played less often, so there is still something to play for in the Champions League. The recent 1-0 defeat to Alaves certainly didn’t help the fourth-placed Bilbao side to get scared
The sixth defeat of the season came away from home, while Villarreal have only lost twice at home. With five wins and five draws, things look pretty good at the Ceramica, and they also held Atletico to a 2-2 draw.
Villarreal have taken a 1-0 lead into the break six times. Bold prediction: That could also work against Real Madrid! If you follow this betting tip, you can secure odds of 5.70 at Betano!
Can Real Madrid get a grip on their minor weakness on the road? After the CL round of 16 against Atletico, this problem must be tackled, otherwise the good starting position in the title race will wobble. It’s Villarreal of all places!
Of all places, because the Whites have not won a league game here for more than eight years. Villarreal are strong at home, have only lost twice and are keen to push for a place in the top flight themselves.
As the visitors could be weakened by the European Cup, I assume that we’re in for an interesting, close match. One that is guaranteed not to be boring, which is why my prediction is:
Both score over 2.5 goals!
