Bundesliga 24th matchday, Saturday, 01/03/2025 at 3:30 pm
Dreaming of international business and then being knocked out of the cup by a third division team? No, that doesn’t go together at all! In my Werder Bremen Wolfsburg tip, I have a team in front of me that is just about to break under its own desires.
Unfortunately, things aren’t going well at SVW anymore, and they’re no longer making a positive impression in our Bundesliga tips either. That’s reason enough for me to tell you straight away: I’m betting on the double chance X2 for the upcoming home game, even though Wolfsburg is also out of the cup!
So we are dealing with two teams that have something to digest. For some years now, this duel has been quite turbulent, but are the players now too tired for a 4:2 (for Werder) from the first leg?
Saturday afternoon will provide the answer. The guests definitely have the more stable form, as they are the third-best away team in the league and should not be underestimated, especially away from home. 59% of all points are earned away from home!
There is no question that this game does not sound boring. I can actually imagine almost anything between a 0-0 and a 5-5, except for the fact that the home side celebrate the three points at the end.
NEO.bet certainly gives its new customers a reason to celebrate. The bookmaker is offering a 500% odds boost for bets on Leverkusen for the matchday highlight between Frankfurt and the current champions, which can also be used in addition to the new customer bonus of up to €100.
The betting providers’ prediction?
Werder have only won one of their last eight games, plus the defeat to Bielefeld in the DFB Cup. As for Wolfsburg? They have one win in their last six games plus the elimination in the cup against RB Leipzig.
Well… and so our PayPal betting providers can’t really decide who to see in front on Saturday! The odds create an average of 2.55, which applies equally to both teams.
The odds for a draw are a completely normal 3.50. Of course, I have to point out that Wolfsburg have drawn four of their last five matches. But: since 2009, this duel, when it took place in Bremen, has not offered a draw.
AI prediction Werder Bremen vs Wolfsburg: That’s what ChatGPT tips
At ChatGPT, they probably also had one or two thoughts about this game. Are the bets that the AI has generated for me here really realistic or can they be trusted rather less?
The highest-risk tip refers to a 1-1. A result bet is never a bad idea, since VfL loves a draw. However, of Bremen’s six draws, there has never been a 1-1; the last two draws between these two clubs were 2-2. So that would be my first choice.
A draw at half-time is also recommended. This is often a popular bet, but only two of Bremen’s home games fall under it. Since it was only correct three times for VfL away from home, I am rather skeptical here.
The popular BTS does not exactly rarely suggest the AI, but in this case I say: absolutely justified! Bremen has only played twice at home without conceding, both teams are tired of the cup, so the defenses on both the left and right are likely to weaken somewhat.
Analysis: Werder Bremen vs. Wolfsburg
The 0-3 loss to FC Bayern in early February? Everyone quickly agreed: forget it, move on, the German record champions are not the benchmark. Due to a number of weakening European contenders, Werder Bremen was suddenly in the thick of the competition.
However, when they lost 1:3 against Hoffenheim a little later and the away game against Freiburg ended in a 0:5 defeat, good advice was hard to come by. The Hanseatic team wanted to use the DFB Cup to build up their self-confidence again, but that went completely wrong!
On the Bielefeld Alm, they deservedly lost 1-2, conceding both goals before half-time. Before that 3-0 defeat to FCB, there had never been more than one defeat, but now there are four in a row in competitive games.
The last time there were four Bundesliga defeats in a row was in March 2024. The problem: the fourth defeat back in March 2024 was against VfL Wolfsburg, of all teams. Only football writes stories like that.
The game was played at home and Bremen lost 2-0, also in March. I’ll take a quick look back at Betano and give you the odds for this exact result: 16.0 would be due.
Odds analysis
At half-time in Bielefeld, it was 0-2 from Bremen’s perspective, and in the last two league games, it was double in their own box. It could therefore be advisable to consider the bet “Wolfsburg will score before half-time”.
At Betano, this tip has odds of 2.00. If you like to take risks, you can of course go one better and bet on the guests scoring more than one goal – now we are already at 5.50!
By the way, if you place these bets, you will also benefit from the Betano promotional code, which, in addition to the new customer bonus, will get you a €20 freebet.
Six goals and five assists? On the road, Wolfsburg can fully rely on Mohamed Amoura. I therefore have the attacker on my list for Saturday. If he scores, you get odds of 3.40 at Oddset.
Werder Bremen vs. Wolfsburg: Werder in crisis!
It wouldn’t be a result that was pulled out of thin air, because the defense is already causing a lot of concern with 13 goals conceded in these four games. Only against Mainz and Dortmund was the defense solid at home, and there have already been at least two goals conceded six times.
Even against Heidenheim and Hoffenheim, there were three, so the Weser Stadium is no longer really an advantage. Romano Schmid is ill, Marvin Duksch is injured? There is also bad news to report in terms of personnel!
Of course, the fans remember the first half of the season all the more fondly, when they won 4-2 against Wolfsburg. Two wins in the last eight games? No, VfL is no longer a favorite opponent.
Beware of the away wolves!
Only one of the last four home games ended in victory, and in the 2-1 win in 2023, Niclas Füllkrug, no longer there, scored both goals. 4-2, 0-2, 2-2, 2-1, 2-2, 1-2, 3-5? No, there was certainly no chance of getting bored in the past encounters.
The visitors from Wolfsburg will know that things can get pretty wild on the banks of the River Weser. They too have to come to terms with their elimination from the cup, losing 1-0 to RB Leipzig – which was not a disgrace, of course.
Both teams were evenly matched, and in the end it was a penalty that made the difference. A defeat in the last eight league games, the narrow 2-3 loss to Bayern? That’s pretty decent.
But the Lower Saxony team is still giving away too many points. 2-2 against Kiel or 1-1 against Bochum: if you want to go to Europe, you have to do better against the weakest clubs in the league.
A 0-0 draw against Leverkusen, on the other hand, is of course worthy of respect, as is a 1-1 draw against Frankfurt. Four of the last five games ended in a draw, but now Wolfsburg is back on the road again.
3-4 against Leverkusen (the decisive goal conceded in the last minute), 2-3 in Freiburg and 2-3 against FC Bayern? They have lost three times away from home, and all three opponents are in the top 4!
When will Werder Bremen get their form back under control? The last results of the green-whites were a bit alarming, especially from a defensive point of view. The 1-2 in the cup against Bielefeld was the negative highlight so far.
Wolfsburg is not a favorite opponent, especially since the Wolves have impressed me away from home and have only lost three times to absolute top teams, and then only by a very narrow margin – and Werder is definitely not one of them!
The bottom line is that I can’t imagine SVW ending their crisis at the weekend. The guests are just too stable for that. My tip is therefore:
Wolfsburg scores at the Weser!
