Who will advance – Dortmund or Barca? Tip & odds

All information about the UECL quarter-final Barcelona vs Dortmund

The best eight teams of the current Champions League season have been determined. The quarter-finals are coming up in April, with the matches taking place just a few days apart. That’s why I’m giving you a Dortmund Barcelona prediction.

BVB have got a pretty tough task ahead of them against FC Barcelona. The Catalans are the clear favorites, and if BVB were to make it through in the end, it would be a huge surprise.

In the Bundesliga, BVB is struggling, but in the Champions League, it shows a different face. In the round of 16, Lille was defeated 1-1 and 2-1, and after falling behind in the second leg, Borussia showed morale and even won.

The course had already been set in the previous round, with a 3-0 win over Sporting Lisbon. A 0-0 draw in the return leg was enough to see them through. And in the group stage?

Here, the black and yellow team had provided both light and shade. There were clear victories (7:1 against Celtic, 3:0 against Bruges and Zagreb, plus a 3:1 against Donetsk and a 1:0 against Graz).

They lost 2-5 to Real Madrid and 2-1 to Bologna. They didn’t draw in the preliminary round, because they lost 2-3 to Barcelona. So it’s not the first time this season that they’ve met Barca.

In December, Dortmund twice equalized after Barcelona had taken the lead, but in the end Ferran Torres scored the final goal. So it’s a mixed bag of results that makes it almost impossible to get a proper read on BVB.

On the other hand, things are looking a bit clearer for FC Barcelona. Hansi Flick’s team had no problems qualifying for this knockout phase without having to go through the playoffs.

Benfica Lisbon was the name of their opponent there, but Barca came out on top in both the 1-0 and the 3-1. With a 1-2 defeat against Monaco, the preliminary round had a surprisingly poor start, but that should change soon.

5:0 against Bern, 4:1 against Bayern, 5:2 against Belgrade, 3:0 against Brest, 3:2 against Dortmund and 5:4 against Benfica, what attacking victories! At the end of the group stage, there was a 2:2 against Atalanta Bergamo.

So we count 32 goals, even though there were two games in which they only managed one goal. Barca play at home against Dortmund first, is that basically an advantage, even though the game has to be played at the Olympic Stadium?

The 2-2 draw against Atalanta was at home, the other home games were won – and there were at least three goals. Therefore, the bet “Over 2.5 goals Barca” could be profitable, here the odds would be 2.07 at Betano.

This bet would have worked in the previous round, because Barcelona won 3-2 here. The last duels between these two clubs took place in 2019, back in the group stage of the Champions League.

At home, the Spaniards won 3-1, while there was a 0-0 draw on German soil. In general, however, opponents from Germany are not necessarily a bad omen for Barcelona.

There is only one Bundesliga club that Barca has lost to in more than two games: FC Bayern! Eleven of the 22 defeats have been against the Munich team, and they are still completely unbeaten against Dortmund.

Conclusion: So the bottom line is that I can’t imagine that Borussia Dortmund will pull off a surprise here. In the first two knockout rounds, the opponents were not too difficult with Lille and Sporting Lisbon.

Barca has performed flawlessly in all respects, is undefeated against BVB and is also strong in its own stadium. Therefore, I can only come to the following conclusion in the end: Barcelona will advance in the end!
