Now it’s getting really hot in the men’s singles at Wimbledon! Who will reach the final of the most prestigious tournament? That will be determined today on Center Court. If the favorites prevail, there will be a repeat of last year’s pairing, Djokovic against Alcaraz.
In order to see this tidbit in the final, the two top stars must first solve their problems in the semi-finals. Alcaraz faces a tough match against Daniil Medvedev, who defeated the ailing world number one Jannik Sinner in the quarter-finals
Alcaraz and Medvedev have already fought several battles on the tennis courts of this world. My colleague Isabella Strehmann took a very detailed look at this match and provides you with a suitable prediction.
And in the second match? This is also a duel that has been a lot of fun in the past and has not always been a short affair. Lorenzo Musetti is aiming for his second win against Djokovic – and above all his first appearance in a major!
Wimbledon today – 12.07.2024
A good year ago, Musetti managed to overcome the giant from Serbia after trailing 0:1 in sets in Monaco, his only victory in six matches to date. The two players have also faced each other twice on the Grand Slam stage, both times in Paris, including this year.
Musetti had the lead, just like in 2021, but was unable to close out the match. Musetti is just getting started on grass this year. Djokovic, on the other hand, wants to draw level with Roger Federer, who is still the sole Wimbledon title record holder with eight triumphs.
The odds speak for themselves, but can Musetti, who is 15 years younger and has already broken 27 times at Wimbledon, be beaten so easily? You can find out my opinion below in the individual analysis of the match.
Alcaraz and Medvedev open the day as they also enter the seventh chapter of their duel history. For Medvedev, it’s an opportunity to take revenge on grass against the defending champion for last year’s semi-final defeat

Wimbledon today 12.07.: Medvedev – Alcaraz (xx:xx h)
Wimbledon, clap, the third, is the name of the game on Friday when Medvedev and Alcaraz take to Center Court. A still inexperienced Alcaraz lost to the defensively strong Russian in round two in three straight sets in 2021. It was a different story in the semi-finals in 2023, when Alcaraz gave Medvedev no chance.
Medvedev is definitely in better form on grass this year, and in my opinion he was also underestimated by the bookmakers from the outset – after all, he had 25.0 odds to win at the start of the tournament. Alcaraz always had to play out at least a fourth set in his last three rounds, and Medvedev also had three longer matches behind him. So I agree with my colleague Isabella, this should take longer…
My expert tip: Over 3.5 sets
Wimbledon bets today 12.07.: Musetti – Djokovic (xx:xx h)
At the French Open it was 2:0 and 2:1 for Musetti, but it was not enough for a coup against the high-flyer of the sport on the big stage. At least in Monaco he was able to defeat him at the 1000 level. Musetti is clearly playing his best year on grass and has already won 27 breaks at Wimbledon alone.
He reached the final at the Queens Club and the semi-finals in Stuttgart. Impressive numbers from the young Italian, who particularly impressed me with his strong return game against the top servers Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard and Taylor Fritz.
He will repeatedly entangle Djokovic in rallies. So this could well be the next major thriller between the two players. In any case, I don’t see this match being as clear-cut as the odds suggest!
My expert tip: Set win Musetti
