Bundesliga Austria, Matchday 28, Sunday, 27.04.2025 at 14:30
There are five rounds to go until the championship playoffs are over – but who will be crowned champions? Red Bull Salzburg have fallen slightly behind and are four points behind going into the final league match.
On Sunday, the Bulls could even be overtaken by the fourth-placed team if they slip up in their direct duel. In my Wolfsberg Red Bull Salzburg tip, I’ll tell you why I think it will be a close game and why I’m betting on the “Double Chance X2” with under 3.5 goals.
So much competition from within their own ranks, and for the second time? Not everyone at RB Salzburg has gotten used to that yet! The championship title already went to Linz in 2023/24, and that could happen again this season.
LASK leads the championship round with 33 points, followed by Austria Vienna with 30. RB has 29 points, closely followed by Wolfsberger AC with 27. Since Salzburg still has to play against the two best clubs, they at least still have some control over the title.
A few days ago, there was another duel against Wolfsberg, and Red Bull was not at all satisfied with the 1-1 draw. It has happened once this year that they failed to win two games in a row.
In February, RB suffered two draws in a row. To be honest, however, the victories in recent months have not really been a demonstration of strength either. We’re used to seeing the Bulls win by a landslide and score lots of goals.
Since mid-December, they’ve only scored three goals twice, and in seven of their last ten games, they’ve scored one goal at most. In addition, the top club has conceded goals in four consecutive games, a streak that has never happened before this season.
At least, and this is the positive, there have been three clean sheets in the last five away games. Before the 3-1 win against Austria Vienna, things had not been particularly spectacular.
2-0 at Rapid, 1-1 against Altach, 1-0 against Austria and 0-0 against Klagenfurt, goals were few and far between. However, it is very interesting to note when Salzburg score their goals away from home.
In their last eight away games, they have only scored eight goals. What is striking, however, is that six of those goals were scored before half-time, meaning that they are far too harmless in the second half.
So if you want to bet on Betano that RB will not score in the second half on Sunday, you can get odds of 2.35. Another option would be to bet on “Under 1.5 goals RB Salzburg” for the entire game.
Here I recommend the bookmaker Bet365. Not only because they offer odds of 1.80, but also because you can get up to $100 with Bet365 betting credits.
Wolfsberg is generally a favorite opponent for Salzburg. Since 2015, they have lost exactly twice, which is pretty much as good as it gets. But: 1-1, 0-1, 0-0? In the current season, it has been three times more than close.
Twice 1-0 and three times 2-1? Salzburg’s recent victories against Wolfsberg have been anything but clear-cut. So what do the odds from our German betting providers look like, and how clear is the visitors’ lead?
An average of 2.05 meets 3.30. Wolfsberg will certainly play boldly; it’s not for nothing that there was a 1:1 draw just a few days ago. Admittedly, with one shot on goal and 33 percent possession, a bit of luck was involved.
WAC are unbeaten in five matches and have lost only two of their last 14 (and those were very close). In their most recent home game, they won 5-1 against Rapid Vienna, having previously picked up four strong points against Graz (1-1 and 3-0).
With 53 goals this season, the team has the second-best offense behind the leaders from Graz. But now there is a crucial problem: Dejan Zukic, the top scorer, received a yellow card against RB a few days ago and is now suspended.
This is bitter, as Zukic will have to sit out for the first time this season. It is therefore difficult to predict how the team will react to this loss. In addition, Alessandro Schöpf will have to sit out due to muscle problems.
The championship is in danger! Red Bull Salzburg has recently lost ground and must now be careful not to let a third club overtake them. The team is simply not performing consistently.
Wolfsberg is the club that can push Salzburg down a place. WAC has hardly lost in many months, and I’ve also noticed that the recent matches against RB have been incredibly close.
Nevertheless, Salzburg is a formidable opponent for Wolfsberg. Since the visitors rarely shine offensively and the home side is missing its top scorer, I have decided on the following bet:
Salzburg scores with under 3.5 goals!
